October is my favoritest month
I'm 36 today!
There are approximately 25 stoplights [ETA: apparently there are actually 21 on the route I usually take] between my house and my workplace. Today, I only had to stop for 4 of them; all the rest, including every one on Prospect St., I sailed through on the green. Let that be a good omen for the coming year.
Plus, the weather is clear and crisp and cool, and I am wearing my purple-and-green Stripey Knee Socks of Awesomeness.
Busy and happy pre-birthday weekend included:
• dinner with the gang at Fasika after shul on Friday;
• a houseful of company starting Saturday afternoon (
jessruth and
yaddie728 for the festivities, and
ladypsyche for less fun reasons, although we eventually got her to the festivities anyway);
• nice low-key party (sad only for the number of key players who were unable to make it), chez
ablock, wherein I learned to make Brandy Alexanders in the Blender of DOOM;
• making brunch for everyone in the house Sunday morning;
• Cirque du Soleil! (technically an early Chanukah present from the TigerParents, rather than a birthday event) with my beloved husband, plus
muchabstracted,
lyriendel and
towk;
• Menschen rehearsal with tasty homemade birthday cupcakes, wherein everyone was basically pleased with and excited about my draft layouts for the CD liner booklet;
• mostly getting packed for our trip (we leave Friday!).
I'm planning a birthday dinner outing for tonight at 7pm, and cake at our house afterwards. I've only heard from about 7 people for the former and 3 more (plus a couple of "maybes" and one "if you're still going when I can get over there!") for the latter. Anyone else who's thinking of coming, please advise. :-)
Of course, then I found out the Elephant Parade is TONIGHT, leaving from Vassar Street at around 8pm. Man! In honor of my birthday! Had I known, I might have scheduled things differently around it, or planned for dinner to be in that vicinity instead. :-P I don't think I can comfortably move dinner any earlier, though, and I have really gotten my heart set on the Cantina. So, we'll see. Maybe we'll eat (and drink?) quickly, and run over to catch a glimpse of the elephants after all, before returning for cake at 8:45.

And man, I would love to finally see the elephant parade!
Nom nom Mexican!
I'm driving over to dinner and cake (and attempting to park the car somewhere near there). I can pick you up on the way in (and you have a sense of direction, where as I, haven't the faintest clue about such things). Ping my cell or email and we can coordinate if you like. ~R~

Heffalumps! Thanks for the heads-up; I might have to go see them.

I might be at dinner depending on how I am feeling and how my work is proceeding.

This is your 25th comment so far. The same number as those stoplights. Which is also 5^2, which is not so far from 6^2, i.e., your age in years.
But I still hope you reach > 6^2 comments before the end of the day.
