link soup du jour

(because I don't like link sausage ;-)

I'm currently planning to go see [livejournal.com profile] navrins in Harvey on Saturday 1/24, and [livejournal.com profile] justom in Intimate Apparel on (most likely) Friday 1/30. Both at 8pm. Anyone?

Especially for [livejournal.com profile] c1: Novelty Socks galore! <3 (Found because I was searching for lime green tights, which they also have. And the peace sign and harlequin trouser socks I already have and love. And... oh, holy crap, ninjas. I may be in trouble here. :-)

An article our IT guy recently passed along: Make the Most of Your PC. Aimed primarily at new Vista machines, but contains a link to the entertainingly named PC Decrapifier.

FallingAugust.com is back up (at least, today!), for those who wanted to download the MP3 sets. However, I've also made a bunch of copies of the aforementioned CD, and will cheerfully be handing them out at Arisia and thereafter.

[livejournal.com profile] theatreatfirst is taking appointments now for Winter's Tale auditions. I should decide if I'm actually doing this. Hmm.

Also, a PSA:

Sounds of Concord will again be offering free* group voice classes for men who sing and who wish to become better singers. If you know a guy who enjoys singing, this is a great program!

The program is sponsored by Sounds of Concord, an award winning men's a cappella chorus, and will consist of 5 classes on Thursday nights beginning January 8th, and continuing on January 15, 22, 29, and February 5th.

A short session for registration, class overview, and determination of voice range will be held January 8th, 7:00pm at Temple Emunah, 9 Piper Road in Lexington, MA (off Waltham Street). The first lesson will follow after that session.

Classes will be taught by Steve Tramack, former Director of the Nashua Granite Statesmen, and, and Baritone of Breakaway, a Northeast District Top 5 quartet. Topics will include breath support, vowel matching, and other methods to improve vocal production. Music will be taught using learning tapes, so you don't have to read music!

For further details or to pre-register, contact:
Jim Kenealy at 508-740-7896 / Lee Daum at 781-643-7468 / E-mail: sing@soundsofconcord.org

*A $10. materials fee is the only cost. There is no obligation.

And now, off to Kinko's to pick up postcards for a mailing that has to go out today.

Thank you for posting the sock site! I'm a knee-socks-aholic.

drat. I so need to get back to work on my voice, but again, there would be that commute issue.

I might go to the singing thing, if I didn't have rehearsal. Oh well.

I should go to Intimate Apparel, though.

[identity profile] chanaleh.livejournal.com 2009-01-08 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)

it's all good, i've got a thing tonight that i shouldn't miss, but i've been meaning to take voice lessons for a long time so i stop straining my voice every time i sing or shout.

[identity profile] trowa-barton.livejournal.com 2009-01-08 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
The voice lessons would have helped for next week.
Damn.

Envious of men on this one!
And in passing, I wish someone would give a class or explain how to use what one learns about breath support in singing in _speaking._ I think I don't know how to sing speech! I manage diaphragmatic support pretty well in singing(the exception being when I am terrified/panicked, doncha know), but just do not grok it when speaking on stage. *fret*

Free voice lesson?! Damn! If my tits weren't so damn big, I'd dress in drag and go;>

Ninja knee socks! That's not trouble, that's delightful!

The ninja knee sock tag line totally wins.

Socks are neat. Pity their tights are only for women up to 200lbs; I'd recommend the site on [livejournal.com profile] fatshionista otherwise.

By "a cappella chorus", they actually mean barbershop group.

So happy we got to hang out for a while...I didn't get to see you to say goodbye, I'm afraid. How was the rest of the con?
