Erev Tisha B'Av went off well. I (and
Jewish InterAction) took a group of 24 to the Middle East for pre-fast dinner, then to services at
Tremont Street, for which we had the largest turnout anyone could remember. I felt okay all the way through services -- and then suddenly it was like someone had let the air out of my balloon; when I got home I was running a fever of 100, which explained
that. It was down in the morning, though, so I went to work, but skipped morning minyan to sleep in a bit, and did tea and juice rather than a complete fast. (I'm pretty much healthy today, happy to report.)
Was slated to have long-overdue dinner with
kalessin post-fast, but he was sick too (eep!) and cancelled. Wasn't sure whether to go to mincha/maariv at that point, but I did; and C was right, I ended up feeling considerably happier for having gone (and probably better than I would've if I'd tried to get him to visit instead).
tapuz invited everyone home for spaghetti afterwards, which also made me happy. [
Side joke which very few will get and which I only thought of on the way home: The several people who contributed orange juice were bringing
mitz tapuzim to
beit
tapuz! Isn't that carrying coals to Newcastle?] And then she let me stick around an extra half-hour to vent some of my angst, which likewise helped. Thanks. :-)
mattrolls hasn't called me since Monday night, nor e-mailed. He's been blogging up a storm, though, so I assume he's alive and well and simply hasn't felt moved to contact me. Perhaps he's experimenting with having me out of his life altogether. [
EDIT, 2:24 pm: Okay, he just called.]
Was invited with C to dinner over at
hawkegirl's this Saturday, but it's been postponed for health reasons (mine, principally). Bummer, I was looking forward to actually meeting her to speak to :-) Might get to break out my
Maenad costume for
awfief's party Saturday night...
if I manage to go, but then it kinda depends what happens Saturday afternoon, doesn't it?
My friend Steve will be visiting from out of town this Sunday; more on that after the fact, but I'm looking much forward to it.
And now that I've finished my lunch: as soon I get five or six specific things done here, I can leave early. Woo-hoo!
