odds and ends
Friday, January 7th, 2005 01:17 pmI keep forgetting to mention: Someone left a scarf at my house on Erev Christmas (fleece, printed: green and pink and tan). If it's yours, let me know.
Also, does anyone want any 2005 calendars -- either the wall kind or the notebook/planner kind? We get them from practically every vendor we deal with, and it's a shame for them to go to waste.
Honorable Menschen is having auditions! Specifically, we're trying to recruit one or more each of tenor and bass/baritone. (Also an alto, but I really want
gilana to join so I'm not pushing hard for additional candidates. ;-) Auditions will be next Sunday and/or Monday evenings, 1/16-1/17 (between 7 and 9pm). If you're interested, or if you have friends who might be interested, please please contact me, and I (as Membership Chair) will send you an audition notice and book you for a timeslot. Go on... be a Mensch!
Glancing over my calendar, I had the sudden urge to go back and manually type up the entries from all my old journals from 7th through 12th grade, just so I could have backdated entries going back to 1984. :-P I'll never do it, but now the thought is in my head. Maybe, if I can bear to look at the things, someday I will dig out my old notebooks and pick out a few entries that actually have *content* (as opposed to endless nattering about boys, although even that might show some enlightening patterns in retrospect), and put them in.
Okay, back to office clean-out day.

Date: Friday, January 7th, 2005 06:29 pm (UTC)That would be interesting, along the lines of the early poems on your website. But would LJ/Six Apart support backdating entries to pre-WWW days? Depends on the code they used, I guess.

And do you have any such journals from college?

Date: Friday, January 7th, 2005 08:57 pm (UTC)There should be a special word for the feeling that reading through old journals evokes. A mix of nostalgia, shame, familiarity and surprise that you were ever the person who could write that. Last year around this time I was cleaning out the boxes of old papers and had a read through my extremely detailed journal (v. bored at work that year) from 1991-1993 and was shocked by how much like Bridget Jones I sounded.
