A Very LJ Weekend

jessruth arrived, picked me up from work, and came to the 20s & 30s Shabbat dinner at shul along with me, ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-syndicated.gif)
mattrolls, ablock, and kalessin. Smashing time had by all. Back to my house afterwards to play Animal Crossing (kalessin has now been assimilated, bwahaha) until Way Too Late.
Saturday: Got up early (like 7:45am) to learn my Torah portion; fortunately I nailed it in the actual reading. Had begged off that afternoon's Utopia rehearsal due tojessruth's visit, so left shul early to (make lentil stew and) hang out at home with her and kalessin, who took us to the Hot Foods Party around 4pm. mattrolls showed up later after he got out of rehearsal, and ablock showed up MUCH later than intended since work was being evil. Smashing time had by all. My highlights: Spicy Brownies, Chocolate Cayenne Truffles, and Habañero Shortbread; quietann's froggie toe socks; winning at Apples to Apples, and being introduced to Nanofictionary by xiphias; brief but pleasing chats with gosling and my college pal Jesse and eeblet and sao hauntmeister and baronet and dr_snark [I was close, that's drsnark. -- Ed.] and marmota and, of course, sunspiral, not necessarily in that order. And a few blissful minutes here and there of indulging my mad crush on hotpoint. ;-) Crawled home around 2:30 am. Yay.
Sunday: A couple games of Scrabble (I lost to Jess, then she lost to Joel). Jazz brunch at Ryles where we ran intocharliegrrrl and actualhuman. More Animal Crossing. jessruth got a ride back to NYC late in the afternoon. mattrolls took a nap. And then I went off to my women's tefilah group (sort of a monthly study group), which also was nice. I even managed to do the reading: we're starting David Hartman's A Heart of Many Rooms.
Monday: somewhat productive day at work, lunch withnavrins, and evening spent with same -- after I did my taxes. Last year I ended up owing almost $1,000 due to freelance work. This year I ramped up my withholding (and also, as it happened, had less freelance income), and as a result I owe only $26. Whew! The state of MA, by contrast, owes me a whopping $2 (that's two whole dollars). I was Telefiling, or I'd have told them to just put it to the AIDS fund. But I'm relieved to have it all figured out.
