Body, WHAT is going on??

Twice already this week, I'd zonked out around 10pm.

As of yesterday afternoon, I could feel a sore throat coming on. Not good with our concert [obligatory plug] coming up tomorrow.

After a quiet dinner with kalessin, I went to bed last night at 10:15. And slept (mostly) until 8am. And went to shul. And was still so wiped that I lay down in my pew after the Torah service (no, I really shouldn't have agreed to stand as gabbai for the longest parshah of the year, after doing my own reading) and proceeded to sleep through Musaf. And after kiddush, came home and took a 2-hour nap.

Throat is a little better, but I still feel weird.

Maybe I'll take my temperature again. Yesterday evening it was only just over 99, though.

I was planning to go to the theatreatfirst '80s Dance [obligatory plug] tonight, but if I'm still feeling so out of it, I think some quieter pursuit will be in order for this evening. :-(

Update, 8:45pm: Temp = 100.4. Uh... yeah.
Sorry, everyone whose festivities I am missing tonight. :-/
(My stitches don't look infected or anything -- now that I've removed the bandage -- so at least that's not the problem.)

On the plus side, I decided to reread The Curse of Chalion before starting Paladin of Souls. And oh... I forgot how much I enjoyed it last time, but now I'm experiencing a delightful tension between racing ahead to soak up the story and reading slowly to savor every passage. Very little makes me as happy as good writing.

I have to reread Paladin of Souls... That's such a fabulous book, for so many reasons I will not go into since it sounds like you haven't read it yet. *loves LMB*

There seems to be a wipe-out summer cold going around right now. Mine started with a sore throat too, went through a couple days of just feeling plain exhausted, and then segued into annoying post-nasal drip. May you recover more quickly. Rest and relax!

Curse and Paladin are both very good books. I think Paladin is actually the better book though.

And I just started The Hallowed Hunt today. It looks very interesting indeed.

To some extent, yeah. :-( I promised to come to at least the beginning of our tikun, at 9pm, and that should be manageable. But it looks like I will probably skip the TBB dinner thingy at 5... not to mention the baby shower I was supposed to go to this afternoon in-between commitments! I should call the mom-to-be and tell her.

I just read CURSE OF CHALION (finished it a week and a half ago). It was my first Bujold; I decided to go ahead and read one since so many people on LJ love her writing so much. Yeah, the writing wasm awesome. I was particularly intrigued by the descriptions of religious experience -- some of them sounded quite Catholic, although, of course, the theology she made up was quite original. While I'm waiting for PALADIN OF SOULS to be available in Braille, I'll go back and read the Vorkosigan books. (I could probably read PALADIN on Talking book, but Talking Books put me to sleep.)

I'm going to try and make it to your concert today.

I just read Paladin of Souls on the plane ride back from Australia. Forgot to put the books I had saved for the flight in my carry-on rather than in my check-in luggage, so I had to buy from the bookstore in the airport. I hate reading sequels without having read the previous books first. Great book, tho. I wasn't sure I wanted to read Curse of Chalion after essentially finding out the plot in the second book, but I guess if you all recommend it so highly I'll have to go read it. :) Erica, did you find a copy of Paladin of Souls? If not, you could borrow mine.

I did get one of my own, thanks! I likewise could lend you Curse of Chalion, though. The plot is a bit spoiled by reading Paladin, but I think the details are left hazy enough that it'll still be enjoyable.
