chanaleh: (scream)

[livejournal.com profile] navrins commented to me yesterday, "Hey, how are you? You haven't updated in a while!" And it's true -- I can't believe how this month has flown by. I am basically engaged in work tasks ALL DAY -- for those playing along at home, yes, this is a bit of a change from MIT! -- and when I get home, if I get home before 10pm at all, I have no energy to sit down again at the computer. And I have determined that (now that I'm getting up at 6 every day) if I am to get to sleep by 11pm, I have to start the going-to-bed process at 10, or it just doesn't happen. And getting to sleep at midnight is tantamount to staying up until 2am every night on my old schedule: suboptimal.

Note that I haven't been *reading* LJ as much either. [livejournal.com profile] lonebear got ENGAGED and it took me a week to manage to read about it. :-P

So what's been happening? Here are the highlights.

  • New job: thriving.
  • Car, cell phone, other hardware updates: No, not yet. Maybe next month. The train's not bad so far.
  • Tiger Boy: adored.
  • Birthday dinner: He took me to 33, and I (thinking only that this was a place I'd heard raves about from [livejournal.com profile] skreeky and never been to) didn't even realize until we were inside and the waitress commented on it that it was my 33rd birthday. He is so clever... and usually it's not so wasted on me. :-}
  • Movies: Mirrormask good. Curse of the Were-Rabbit excellent. Serenity still on my must-see list (as soon as we arrange a viewing of a few more episodes at [livejournal.com profile] ablock's house).
  • High Holidays: successful. (That's admittedly faint praise; I'd rather be able to spend the holidays focusing on, y'know, praying like I used to... so the choir gig is getting a wee bit old for me. But really it's pleasant enough, and truth be told, I'm also looking forward to the paycheck.)
  • Weddingy wedding: My first double-bride experience. :-) Everything wonderfully orange and brown and festive and loving. Not to mention industrial. I was so pleased and proud to be a part of it all.
  • Other parties: I went to some nice ones, and missed others.
  • Sukkot: nice since the weather cleared up! [livejournal.com profile] magid very sweetly had us (and [livejournal.com profile] queue) over on Tuesday. Sheva brachot last night and tonight (possibly the best use of a sukkah I have encountered). Tomorrow, a community potluck.

  • Stuff coming up:

  • Simchat Torah: Next Tuesday night at [livejournal.com profile] tremontstshul, 10/25, 7-10pm. For those who find it exciting to dance in the street with Torah scrolls among 700 Jews.
  • Merry Wives: With [livejournal.com profile] theatreatfirst, that is. Opens Nov. 11, runs through Nov. 19. Performance info here. Rehearsals (the ones I've been able to get to!) are going well as we barrel toward Tech Week; I am happy to report that I seem to have my five lines (and three minutes of stagetime) down pat.
  • Thanksgiving: Bought my tickets to go to CA (my mom's), yay -- the day after MWOW's close and strike. Yes, my November is basically over before it's begun.
  • Menschen: Concert(s) coming up December 18th (time and venue TBD). Web site about to be getting a major overhaul, stay tuned.
