Zen proverb: After ecstasy, the laundry.
Monday, April 19th, 2004 10:38 amI slept until 10:30. Wow! Go me!
This has become a bit of an achievement
For me, no matter how late I stay up.
I left the Thespis strike party last night
Around 1:30 (well, okay, was dragged,
As I'd already napped for half an hour).
Came home and went to bed, and slept a full
Eight-point-five hours, replete with vivid dreams.
What I should do today (if you all care):
Yes, laundry, first (breakfast and shower too);
Walk down to Harvard Square and run some errands,
For instance, to the stationery store;
Also to Pearl, but that's in Central Square,
And make exchanges from my trip last week.
I probably should stop into my office
(Although it's closed today, a holiday),
To see if on my freelance project there
Are loose ends I should be attending to.
(Then I could also make some buttons up
For the three people who have ordered some. ;-)
I'd also like to work on my tallit,
Which needs some stenciling in fabric paint
For decoration with my chosen text
(The first two verses of Psalm 104,
Known best in Hebrew as Barchi Nafshi).
But there's so much to do, so little time...
Or could the laundry wait an extra day?
-- I must wind up this charming blank verse list
If I'm to make some headway on the contents!
I got an offer for a pleasant evening
Tonight, of takeout and ReplayTV.
[N.B.: To set the record straight, I should
Give credit where it's due: the dinner was
Home-cooked (yum, salmon!), and the video
Recording for the evening was in fact
A movie that I'd long been psyched to see --
Whose title doesn't scan, but here it is --
And proved as cheering as I could have hoped.
Plus it had Sandra Oh, who, it turns out,
Reminds me pleasantly of
scwang.]
I'd best go make a phonecall and accept.
