February is the new November
Monday, February 4th, 2008 09:12 am... Theater-wise, that is. Performances I'm going to this month:
This past Saturday night, 2/2, was the 2nd Annual KI A Cappella Fest. The Menschen appeared in this program last year and were invited to do so again, but due to a couple of administrative issues, it didn't come together. However, a couple of us went, plus
gilana,
kalessin,
awhyzip, and Jamie; there we met up, and later went out to JP Licks, with
gnomi and
mabfan and a variety of
mbarr's friends whom I was glad to meet (
elul_3) or re-meet (
maric23). :-) The concert lineup was actually quite different from last year's, and it was hard for me to tell how good the changes were (since last year we were running around backstage a lot), but the whole thing was still enjoyable, largely from an "OMG we should do that/OMG we should NEVER do that!" sort of performance aspect. Also, Manginah still rocks the house :-) -- and,
gremionis, I'm sorry I never found you to say hello, but Techiya sounded really great also. I doubt I'm going to have time to write a detailed review, but there's the pico.
Quasi-theatrical: The Super Bowl at
ablock's last night, where my contribution was to make matzah ball soup and then fall asleep through most of the third quarter. >:-)
Upcoming:
2/9: Concord Players' The Lion in Winter
2/10: driving down to Westchester County (preview of the Lunacon trip!) to be soprano chorus in a sing-thru of Iolanthe
2/22-3/1 (sometime): Sudbury Savoyards' Yeomen of the Guard
I'm sure more will crop up... and all this is notwithstanding my 3 book projects in various stages,
tremontstshul events, etc. etc. etc.
(Far-future notice: Adam From The Menschen's musical of Harold and the Purple Crayon will run for 8 weeks starting in September 2008 at Adventure Theatre in Glen Echo Park, MD. We went to see its children's-community-theatre debut in May 2007 at Seacoast Rep in Portsmouth, NH, but it'd be fascinating to see the professional premiere, with Equity adult actors.)
