leaving (for) las vegas
Tuesday, August 18th, 2009 05:48 pmI'm at Logan boarding my plane, at the other end of which I will meet my mom, MIL and SIL for four nights (at the Excalibur) and three fun-, sun-, and show-filled days.
Tiger Boy's staying home, so don't anyone burn down Somerville, OK? :-)

Date: Sunday, August 23rd, 2009 08:12 pm (UTC)Mostly, my favorite places to walk around in were the Disneyland-style "indoor outdoor" theme spaces, which were largely shopping plazas: the Grand Canal at the Venetian, the Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace. New York New York and Paris also had nice little replica city street areas, less elaborate but fun to see. But overall, the hands-down winner for atmosphere was the Bellagio -- gorgeous Chihuly glasswork in the lobby atrium and in their Conservatory, and you must watch the choreographed fountain display, preferably several times (it's every 15 minutes in the evening).
We didn't do a whole lot of high-end restauranting, but the buffet at the Bellagio was to die for. Our favorite breakfast place was America in NYNY. And if you (like me) fondly remember the frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity 3 that used to be in Fanueil Hall 15+ years ago, there's one of those in Caesar's Palace.
