Fun and games
Wednesday, August 20th, 2003 09:51 amSaturday was JamFest.
folzgold pulled it off! With our help. :-) Note: Anyone in greater Boston who's free Friday night (late) MUST come to the secret show the Dresden Dolls are playing at the Sky Bar on Somerville Ave. 21+; doors at 8:30 (conveniently after shul).
Sunday, an outing to Rockport, MA, with the Tremont St. gang. Monday, dinner with
nacht_musik, a lovely time as always.
Yesterday, Six Flags with
ablock on our annual outing. No sooner did we walk in than we ran into
hauntmeister and crew! which was fun, although we didn't see much of them the rest of the day. Spent a lot of time in the water park for a change, and generally had a pleasantly low-key experience... I think due to getting suckered into the FastLane virtual line-waiting gimmick, which meant getting on Superman: Ride of Steel without nearly the headache. Score!

Date: Wednesday, August 20th, 2003 07:26 am (UTC)Yeah, I think FastLane would be a big win if you wanted to maximize efficiency in the park. There's apparently even a FastLane Gold, which lets you simply walk to the front of any line, any time. We only made it onto eight rides all day long, and the rest of the time was largely spent in queues. But I was getting peeved at Six Flags for so aggressively nickel-and-diming us. Starting with a $10 charge for parking!? How else were we supposed to get there? And really didn't want to pay them extra for the power to jump queues. It just seems unfair, somehow.
And then the attractions seemed to be consistently short-staffed. For example, there were NO attendants at the head of the queues for Batman and Superman. Rather than being directed to seats, guests just had to figure out loading patterns and fend for themselves. Leading (the engineer in me notes) in increased loading time and a number of seats being unused every ride cycle.
