Slightly fuzzy-brained lunchtime weekend update
Monday, April 26th, 2004 12:51 pmDear Lord, I am tired. I should remember to get more sleep on weekends... or on school nights, or both, or something.
Had a swell weekend though. Festive. Friday: a songfest Shabbat dinner with some of my very favorite shul people (present company excepted, of course); then to
skreeky's engagementfest, where I couldn't help staying much later than was good for me... sang and danced... and mostly avoided flirting with the Borisians...
Saturday: shul, where I limped through my share of the double parsha; then the New England Folk Festival, where unfortunately I danced very little since I was feeling oddly queasy, but did manage to greet and waltz with jonathanjo, in town specially for NEFFA; then
lyonesse's doctoratefest for
loravarnion, who got wonderfully lit up (in more than one sense) for the occasion. Fell asleep on the couch, in my usual inimitable fashion.
Sunday: made brunch for
tenore, then went to see
awfief's choir concert of Carmina Burana, which I'd never heard in its entirety before and enjoyed a lot (despite
tenore and
rjpb's complaints about reducing the magnificent orchestration to piano and percussion). Then watched 21 Grams, which seems to have been worth watching, though weird and heavy and not necessarily all that likable; then rehearsal; then spent a little quality time with Kosher Boy, and stayed up too late reading instead of cleaning. Bah. :-)
Things I must do:
Think of something to make for dinner with jonathanjo tonight. (Maybe he'd like me to take him out instead? Something eggplant-based, I think. Curry? Mushrooms, brown rice, maybe spinach, yes. It's good to occasionally have someone earthy-crunchy to cook for.)
Think of something else to make for the potluck for for my Women's Tefilah Group meeting on Wednesday (which, sadly, will preclude my attending the City of Cambridge Holocaust Memorial Program at TBS that same evening).
Read two chapters of On Being a Jewish Feminist for same.
Clear up the last outstanding task on the freelance catalog project that I sent to the printers' last week.
Follow up on some other shul-related printing projects. Eek. Start by getting printers' quotes for them, anyway.
Things I want to do:
Work on my tallit. I've collected enough momentum that it suddenly feels like something I'm actively working on, not something I'm putting off working on. Do the stenciling onto the neckband; punch and handbind the tzitzit holes in the corners; tie the tzitzit. Optional: Look for two lines of additional text to paint as "stripes" onto the body.
Send
msmidge a first-draft ketubah design...!
Finish reading A Cold Heart (the latest Jonathan Kellerman paperback).
Eat some lunch. Hmm.
P.S.: Happy birthday, Mom!
