Well, crap!

The good news: the Dolls sold out the Paradise (capacity 588).

The bad news: I was on the wrong side of the door. Crap!

If that possibility had even occurred to me, I wouldn't have spent so much time dicking around at home before heading out. You know, eating dinner and stuff.

On the other hand, I'm home a good hour and a half earlier (and $13 richer) than expected, and really I can't feel all that sorry that they had a sold-out show.

Now I feel slightly better. It looks like EVERYBODY I'd hoped to see at the Dolls concert didn't get in.

I think the Dolls are ready to play larger venues. . .

Definitely a local phenomenon.

I remember [livejournal.com profile] cos mentioning them over and over.
I still have no clue who they are, as I have never heard their music.
Since I don't listen to the radio, as they reformatted my favorite 80's station to hard rock, I only occasionally see things on MTV, which I normally don't watch.

I heard before 7 that they were sold out, so even if you'd rushed you mighta not been in luck. Sorry you missed it! It was my first viewing and I was amused.

Go to their website, http://www.dresdendolls.com/ , and you can listen to a few of their clips online. You miss the theatricality of their look (though you can gather some of it from the website) but the music is great.

I just saw an article in the Boston Phoenix that they're laying the groundwork for going national. [Cool! They're shooting a video, which means "Coin Operated Boy" will be their first single release. Good choice!]

Well, the Dolls are only now filming their first music video, so you wouldn't have seen it yet. And they are a local Boston band, but I expect them to hit it big nationally this summer and next fall. They were going to get their national break as one of the acts in Lolapalooza, but, since that festival has gone bye-bye, they are instead going to be doing a national club tour, playing in various clubs around the country.

They're doing a video for "Coin Operated Boy?"
Damn, I was going to do that for a masquerade costume.
