Back at Chinon

The first off-book rehearsal wasn't actually that bad. Well, until we got to Act II. May all things that bestow blessing bestow it on greenlily for her patience in feeding us our lines. (At least it wasn't the same sense in which she was feeding them to navrins *before* our break...)

Forgot to ask if we're still interested in lining up someone to tape the performances, though. Maybe I'll send a quick e-mail.

In the past several days I:

Went to a sheva brachot (well, technically two) for Mr&Mrs Brother-Of-tapuz. Got to see not only them and laurens10, but also, notably, xiphias and The Fruitbowl and yehoshua. And got to meet laereth at last, which was cool.

Had a much-overdue, all-too-brief coffee and schmooze with scholargipsy. *happy*

Tried and failed to see the Dresden Dolls.

Talked to mrmorse. Failed to meet up with him for Saturday night's concert (Beethoven's 9th) on the Common.

Managed to see theatreatfirst's All in the Timing. Remembered that I had seen "The Universal Language" done once at MIT (by MTG? MITCP? Blini, blini! Bonanza blini!), but none of the other playlets. Applauded gilana, scholargipsy and plumtreeblossom most heartily. All those who didn't catch it this weekend should go next weekend.

Went out after with ablock and kalessin, to Rudy's for dinner and then CD shopping.

Took 14 of my fellow yidlach canoeing and then out for dinner. Perfect weather for it, too. *happy*

Had Menschen rehearsal wherein it was decided that we'll spend next week arranging "Hallelujah" for ourselves to perform. *happy*

Exchanged a little helpful e-mail with KB. *happy*

Forgot to call my dad back about scheduling flights for my August visit. Guess I should do that now, huh? *sleepy*

2. MITCP did Universal Language a couple of years ago. And English Made Simple (also Ives) in the same evening as my first directing experience.

My pleasure. Working with really good dialogue is almost enough to make me forever swear off stage-managing light opera. :)
