Dreaming of a wet Christmas

So although I was supposed to work a half day yesterday (the 24th that is, which MIT declared an official half-holiday), I woke up with a nasty sore throat at 6am. Fell back to sleep, got up at 7:30 and applied liberal amounts of hot tea. Which helped, but not enough. So at 9:30 (the usual start time in my office) I called in sick. And at that particular moment I wasn't actually feeling that awful, but it ended up being kind of up and down for the rest of the day.

I rang up Jonathan (he isn't going out of town until 12/26) and complained about having to haul my four large boxes of family presents to the post office; and, as he was expecting to be out and about running errands, he promptly offered to come by and take them for me. What a mensch. :-) I said I'd definitely appreciate an extra pair of hands if he would go *with* me, so he came over and we had lunch at Carberry's and took the packages and browsed awhile at 10,000 Villages. Unfortunately, I started feeling less well again, and had to come home and take a nap from 3:30 to 6pm. After which kalessin brought over Chinese food and ablock stopped by and we watched It's a Wonderful Life on TV. Which, say what you will, still brings tears to my eyes.

Today I'm still feeling the sore throat, but my fever (100.4 last night) seems to be down, so I'm headed over to mangosteen's shortly. See y'all there
