list your top 6 "happy foods". the foods that when you eat them, make you want to do a little dance in your seat. can be restaurant, junk food, home-made, whatever. (and if you want to include recipes for the home-made ones, i won't object!)
In no particular order:
Fresh mozzarella, fresh tomato, and fresh basil.
Hash browns (or home fries) with runny fried (or poached) eggs.
Salmon nigiri (sushi).
Fresh avocado.
Fresh pineapple.
An abundance of cooked mushrooms in any context (pizza, pasta sauce, Chinese food, stroganoff, whatever).
mrmorse has seen this completely turn my mood around.
Of course,
coraline, having decreed a total of 6 items, went ahead and snuck in a 7th anyway, and so shall I:
Chive cream cheese on a rye bagel.
EDIT: Oh, what the hell. This one is my list, I'm going to add others as they come up.
Asparagus. Steamed, with a little salt only (no butter or mayo). But it also has to be cooked enough to taste like asparagus; undercooked and crunchy doesn't do it.
Vanilla buttercreams, robed in dark chocolate (though milk is good too). Alternatively, Cadbury creme eggs.
Mary Chung's soy-sauce eggplant.
Note also that I am not thinking "comfort foods" in an emotional sense. I (and I think
coraline) was thinking strictly of the food experience: the foods that cause me involuntarily to grin and sigh happily as I chew the first bite... and the last bite. I have a great many favorites, but some (like the above) do stand out in this regard.

I was going to try and do my taxes tonight, but I am still in the office, and totally unmotivated. The kind of mood where if
ablock were in town he would say "Clearly we need to blow off all our responsibilities and go to the movies."
Maybe I'll go to Diesel for a bit.

Date: Wednesday, March 9th, 2005 04:54 am (UTC)You should try Baja Fresh's Chipotle Glazed Charbroiled Chicken Salad, which has both of those (the pinapple is grilled, but only a little), and many other yummy ingredients besides. I think there's a few in your area...<checks website>...yep, there's one in Faneuil Hall and one in Stoneham.
