Well, now this is interesting... especially in light of conversations with [livejournal.com profile] jessruth last weekend. ;-)

You scored as Inwood. Inwood is located on the northern tip of Manhattan. Inwood extends from 200th St (Dyckman St) to 220th Street. It is banked on all three sides by huge wild parks.

Thanks for taking my test! -Susan

Technically, the author of the quiz isn't quite right when she says Inwood is "located on the northern tip of Manhattan." It's located on the northern tip of Manhattan Island, but the borough itself also includes the Marble Hill neighborhood on the mainland just north of the Harlem River.

I find it interesting that you scored a 72% for Inwood, but only 28% for Washington Heights, as they're right next to one-another, and are often combined into the term WaHI. Maybe it has something to do with the crime problem in Washington Heights.

Bwahaha - I'm pretty sure they took that pic from the southbound lanes of the henry hudson parkway. That's the median, you can see some buildings through the trees.

The Mighty Purple-Haired [livejournal.com profile] dr_memory and the lovely [livejournal.com profile] mir_nyc live in Inwood. I liked the neighborhood when I visited them... It's not a very long walk from their apartment to the Cloisters.

... which is why Inwood is probably the neighborhood of Manhattan I've spent the most time in, despite it having far fewer interesting things to do than just about any other part of the island.

The Cloisters are considered to be in Washington Heights, I'm pretty sure. And I, too, have been puzzled seeing several people post this quiz with such drastically different results for Inwood and Washington Heights. I can barely tell where the boundary between the two is, and as far as I know, N & M are still fuzzy on it too :)

M moved there quite a while ago, whenever it was she left Park Slope. I'm pretty sure that was still in the 90s. The amusing thing is, a lot of New Yorkers have never heard if Inwood, either. And you run into a good number of them who are even surprised to find out Manhattan goes that far. I saw, far uptown, they say, "oh, 150th street?", I say no, the very northern time, they say, "... like ... 180th???", no, between 204th and 207th - "isn't that in the Bronx?"

I got Upper West Side first (which is pretty good, since that's where I'm living and want to live); Joy got China Town first, UWS second...
