ObPost: Revenge of the Sith
Thursday, May 19th, 2005 05:43 pmMidnight, Fenway. Last night. (Got home and to sleep by 3:30am. Got up at 8:45am and into the office at 9:45. Not bad.)
Overall, it did not disappoint. Even though I concur that this is largely because the geek public's expectations were ramped so far down after Episode II... it is something.

mrmorse, I could still complain about several things -- the only slightly less leaden dialogue (Padme's, Yoda's), the Insta!Evil aging spell they felt the need to use on Palpatine, the unfortunately weightless creatures and lightsabers giving away their CGI origins, the lack of psychological depth in the transition from Cocky Young Jedi to Tortured Young Apprentice to Rampaging Dark Lord (they could have done so much more with it)...
But anyway. I will restrict myself to one principal comment regarding the movie, which is -- unlike pretty much any other comments I have read today -- that Anakin is so much freakin' hotter than in Episode II.
"It's the hair!" ... Of course, the dark-and-haunted thing is a factor too. Very Elijah Wood (only, y'know, taller). But really, it's all about the hair. Curling down onto the back of his neck in exactly the way that drives me... well! No more dorky Padawan buzz-cut, that's all I have to say.
Dinner tonight with (a cozy subset of) the Princeton crew. *grin* Where I'm sure this will likewise form a principal topic of conversation. No, not the hotness. The rest of the movie. Edit: Oh yeah, and also Hitchhiker's. A good time had by all.
