Schedule confluence overload!
Friday, January 23rd, 2004 01:15 pmPresident's Day weekend is 2/14-2/16.
Boskone is that weekend (Friday to Sunday).
I've never been to Boskone.
I intend to make at least an appearance this year, presumably Saturday.
geraty suggested in particular that I come this year to meet and do business with some
noreascon4 folks. No word yet on when during the weekend that will happen.
Da Vinci's Notebook are playing Club Passim that weekend.
DVN areceasing "drastically reducing" touring, so may not be back again in the foreseeable future.
The three shows are Saturday 7pm and 10pm; Sunday 8pm.
Currently there appear to still be tickets for all shows, but this will not be true much longer.
Honorable Menschen have rehearsal Sunday night at 7, which would preclude my going Sunday.
yonah has suggested that HM go en masse to the Saturday 10pm show.
But if I want to show up to Boskone, especially for the express purpose of meeting up with people, there are likely to be dinner things happening during the early show and concerts or parties during the later one.
Saturday is also Valentine's Day. Let's not even talk about those implications, or I shall freak out and have to declare it officially outside my coping field.
Help??
At least I get that Monday off... Hey, maybe the HM rehearsal will get pushed off to Monday night since it's Presidents' Day (that's what we did for MLK Day weekend), freeing up Sunday.
Note: Once we pick a show, I am NOT coordinating dozens of tickets. I am ordering six at most, the rest of you can figure it out. :-)
Note the second: Next stop, Lunacon arrangements...
EDIT, 1/26/04: I've now ordered tix for the Saturday late show (10pm). Join me before they sell out!

Date: Friday, January 23rd, 2004 06:58 pm (UTC)but Da Vinci's Notebook is so much better live than on their cd's, and i keep meaning to see them at Passim but failing...
and so they're coming to Boston the weekend of Boskone and then drastically reducing touring.
damn it. not okay. grr.
suggestion
Date: Friday, January 23rd, 2004 07:29 pm (UTC)unfortunately for me I have something I have to do on that Saturday (Lodge related item). As a result I will not be able to be at Boskone to enjoy it. I do have a membership tho. Membership can not be rolled over to the next year, but it can be transferred to another this year with a nice letter. So, since you seem to have a desire to go, would you care for a free membership? you get Friday and Sunday as well this way.
go to the Saturday night (10pm) show after most of the programming for the day is done anyways
Sunday night should not be to bad exhaustion wise as you should not be working this con, just enjoying it.
not sure if this is of any use, but it is my suggestion.

Date: Friday, January 23rd, 2004 08:43 pm (UTC)If you really don't intend to show up to Boskone, and have no other more deserving takers of your membership, I'd be pleased to take the transfer.
Re: suggestion
Date: Friday, January 23rd, 2004 08:57 pm (UTC)I will check what information is needed for the transfer and send along an e-mail to you with copy of such.

Date: Friday, January 23rd, 2004 11:55 pm (UTC)I'd like to go to Boskone myself, but am not sure I have the bandwidth to cope. Still thinkin' it over.
As for DVN, they're another thing I associate with my X, and I'm not sufficiently enamored of them to want to go (never mind how much I don't want to run into X, I'm still a little hypersensitive to some reminders).
In short, I very much understand the appeal of all of these things...! and I'm a wimp about some of them.
Bad timing
Date: Saturday, January 24th, 2004 12:01 am (UTC)Would you like any souvenirs?

Date: Saturday, January 24th, 2004 02:21 pm (UTC)Btw, I saw a flyer at my office yesterday for a '90 VW Cabriolet Convertible being sold. It wasn't your dream color if I remember what you wanted correctly (pink, right?), but it made me think of you nonethless. Besides, you could always paint it :)

Date: Monday, January 26th, 2004 07:20 pm (UTC)The car's an automatic... Not sure if that's a good thing or not. It actually looks like a fairly good deal, it's close to 100k miles, but for 14 years old, that's not bad, and a lot of the major systems apparently have recently been replaced. It's white on white, with red and black interior. I can scan you a copy of the flyer if you want :)
