Today was just my three-minute consult for the surgical procedure. (Despite the fact that they booked me for a half-hour slot in the first place.)

They have now very kindly scheduled me for the actual procedure a week from today. At which time I will re-absorb all the good wishes sent my way earlier today.

Christ on a crutch.

I mean, no harm done, really, but ARRRRRGH what a waste of my emotional energy. (And meanwhile I still have this weird ache lingering in the affected area, and no one has any opinion on that.)

I'm going to go upstairs and rant at my boyfriend now. :-P

Man, I hate it when I get myself all psyched up to do something I don't want to do, and then it gets delayed.

And, while I understand that they have to give you some time between a surgical consult and the surgery itself (because they don't want to be sued by someone who claims not to have fully understood what the surgery would entail), it does suck to get all the details about all the things they're going to do, and then have to wait for them to actually do those things. It was the same way with my procedure back in February, although at leaast that was completely elective.

Actually I bet the "weird ache" is psychosomatic... now that you're thinking "agh, there's a problem!" it has to hurt, because problems hurt, right?

Well, that is a sensible theory... but the fact is, it's a pain that's been vaguely present on and off for quite some time. It just happens to have been more "on" the past day or two. But it's definitely on the left side and not on the right.

Well, I hope all things go well.
That being said, I had a biopsy (not of a mole, but for dermatologic testing) and it was no big thing, really. I felt a little tugging around the site, but the doc shot it up good with anesthetic, so the actual incision was off the radar. It'll be over before you've realized it's begun. As in your avatar, "breathe." Very important.
