Mayday! Mayday!
Thursday, May 1st, 2008 05:31 pmLots more excitement:
I interviewed this past Tuesday for a marketing/development publications position at a Certain Local Modern Orthodox Jewish Day School. (There's really only one in the area, so if you're going, "Is that...?", it's almost certainly yes.) Today they called to offer me the job and I accepted! It's a bit of a departure for me in some ways, not being to do with books. On the other hand, it does tie in with my strong amateur background in Jewish communal service, which is a direction into which I have from time to time considered moving... and overall they said they thought I would bring an excellent combination of strengths into this position, which I believe and very much hope will turn out to be the case. So, OMG. I'm now officially "on vacation" rather than merely "self-employed", and shopping for work-appropriate skirts will commence. :-D Yes, it's full-time -- though I should still have time for occasional outside projects -- and yes, I will miss the freelance life, but I think it'll be worth my while. E.g.: Maybe I'll spring for the spendy new phone after all. ;-)
Plus, lest I forget, Tiger Boy and I (alongside many talented others) are participating in
theatreatfirst's SomerVaudeVille cabaret at Johnny D's later this month. One night only: Wednesday, May 28, at 8:30pm! (Unfortunately, it's at the exact same time as the also-one-night-only Duran Duran concert, at BU's Agannis Arena on Comm Ave. But what can you do. Simon, my junior-high love, I'll have to dedicate my performance to you from afar.)
