Eureka Puzzles in Coolidge Corner is having Summer Game Nights every Tuesday, 6:30-8:30pm. So far, the only one we've managed to go to was Word Games on July 8 (where we saw [livejournal.com profile] 530nm330hz and family)... but tomorrow night's theme is Settlers of Catan!

We saw The Dark Knight at the Somerville Theater on Saturday night. Since then, I've been enjoying catching up on other people's spoilerrific comments, but I don't have too much to add by way of analysis. It was... intense, and terrifying. Stylistically, "gritty" doesn't begin to cover it -- extremely well-executed in that way, but made me want to go rewatch the "original" 1989 Michael Keaton Batman (which I saw five times in the theater for its gorgeous and gleaming cinematography) for contrast. Also, unfortunately, I still can't bring myself to like Christian Bale, in general. I don't dislike him, just... meh. Also also, incidentally, we finally got to check out the new home of the MOBA (Museum of Bad Art), which thoughtfully provides just enough floor space for the ensuing ROTFL. Aww yeah.

I've been finding that the "members-only" Goldstar site is almost entirely useless in terms of actually buying discounted tickets -- their supposed "half price" deals never come out to more than a few dollars' actual discount, once you count in "convenience charges" and actual availability -- but their mailing list is very good for simply Finding Out about upcoming things: Underground Railway Theater is doing QED: An Evening With Richard Feynman July 24-Aug 3, in the brand-new Central Square Theater! Turtle Lane is doing Falsettos Sept 12-Oct. 12! (Hey, maybe by that time I'll have some brain cells freed up again for, like, non-mandatory recreational activity. Not in time to audition for [livejournal.com profile] theatreatfirst's Rimers of Eldritch, though, more's the pity.)

Lastly: Our wedding photographers offered to throw in an "engagement" shoot (hey, we still have more than a month of engagement left) at no extra charge, so we went with them to the Arboretum the weekend before this. They've posted some of the results to their blog: one teaser shot, set of six sample shots. It was fun -- and remarkably energizing to do something that put the focus back, at least briefly, on "hey, look, we're in love" instead of "OMG PLANNING ARRGH". <3
