Working late

Meant to go to MITG&SP's set build for Ruddigore tonight at 7pm. Instead, I'm still here in the office, and I think the best thing (for me) that I can possibly do is stay here until I get through the book I'm working on, in hopes of having half a chance of turning it in on time and being able to work on anything else tomorrow (before I take off Friday, and we have a holiday next Monday).

Short weeks are fun in theory, but often a pain in practice.

Then again, this serves me right for slacking off yesterday. If I can't buckle down until 3pm, this is what happens.

At least I also forgot to schlep my painting clothes with me this morning. Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] hauntmeister. :-}

(yes, [livejournal.com profile] adamosity, I made it!)

I mean, making the last FedEx pickup in my own office building -- had I not planned quite so poorly -- might have provided some ordinary, garden-variety, get-home-an-hour-earlier contentment. But zipping down to the Financial District, and finding the Federal St. drop location right at the stroke of 9pm only by Sheer Dumb Luck -- that's a rush. Ha! I figured I might as well try it, since the worst that could happen was that the package had to wait until tomorrow... the same as if I didn't try at all.

I was so pleased that I proceeded to ramble around Post Office Square for a while, until I got my bearings somewhere around State Street, so I looped down through Quincy Market (where all the shops were closed but all the open-air restaurants -- and it is a lovely night -- were full of people watching the Big Sox Game), and back up through Downtown Crossing, and hopped right onto a Red Line train at Park Street. More perfect timing.

Life is good.
