... only a couple days belated.

Short form: It was a con. :-) As last year, we commuted (i.e. slept at home rather than at the hotel), and of the time I was there, I spent... not exactly the majority, but a plurality helping [livejournal.com profile] zigguratlabs prep for or clean up from parties. But that was good.

Thursday: I had a work meeting 8-10pm, so did not end up doing as much volunteering as I'd meant to. Brought the kosher Chinese takeout run to the [livejournal.com profile] zigguratlabs crew, though, and then came back after 10 ostensibly to help Skip in the sign shop, which ended up meaning helping set up the staff t-shirts for an hour or less. (Am I a bad person for letting Skip give me a t-shirt anyway?)

Friday: Led davening (again this year) at 5pm, which was awesome and I need to make sure flyers get hung earlier in the day next year so more people know to come. Enjoyed the subsequent Pajama Party the most, I think, of the entire weekend (someone took a picture at one point of the throng piled on [livejournal.com profile] kalessin's bed, and now I don't know who has it, but I badly want a copy. I thought it was [livejournal.com profile] xthread but it seems not). Also, there was a circus, with juggling, and dancers and acrobats which I enjoyed tremendously... and I finally -- finally! -- got to hear Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band perform!

Saturday: we slept in and actually did not arrive back at the con until almost 4pm -- setup time for the Saturday night "Halloween" party. Helped decorate the Graveyard and then the Pumpkin Patch. Spent some time delivering amateur therapy (hug- and talk-) to a friend who badly needed it. Tried and failed to go to the Masquerade -- along with about 150 other people turned away from a 200-seat house. Alas! That's what I get for not working any tech. :-} Worked a couple shifts at the door of the party, which I always like. At about 12:45am, dragged my husband down to the Club Dance, where he lasted nearly half an hour before fading out (and biking home in the snow). [ETA: The newly posted playlist indicates that it was almost 40 minutes, from "Jump Around" until "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go". Woo!] Whereupon I went back down to the ballroom with [livejournal.com profile] justom and stayed on the dance floor until 4:15am [from "Feel Good Inc.", whatever that is, right through to the end of "Magic Dance"]. Which was mind-blowingly awesome and something I haven't done in, well, many months at least. Crawled home and into bed at about 5:15.

Sunday: Managed to get up in time to get J to Summit Mount Arisia -- not quite at 11am when it started, but before it ended at noon. Long enough, anyway, for him to make the climb ten times. :-) Went to the singalong screening/performance of Dr. Horrible, then did party strike/cleanup, then went to [livejournal.com profile] pmrp's radio play at 3pm. What else? Walked around with J a bit shopping Dealer's Row -- we didn't buy anything, but he did actually bid on and win a piece from the Art Show -- the autumn-leaves space-shuttle tie! Stuck around long enough to put in appearances at the Unofficial Brandeis Party (brilliant!) and the Steampunk Ball Contra Dance and the [livejournal.com profile] techno_fandom party before taking J home for the night.

And Monday I was working (although I dragged my sorry ass in at like 11am), so that was pretty much it.

Unofficial Brandeis Party

As in alumnae, or anyone Brandeis-affiliated, from the little undergradlings up? :-)

There were, in fact, undergradlings (one of whom had actually turned up to services two nights previously). There were also alumni from recent to not-so-recent (class of '88, anyone?) -- although, at least in the times that I dropped in, not all the ones I expected to see there! There was at least one current employee who wasn't a student at all. Overall, it was a really nice idea.

This was one of the parties I sorely missed for not having made it this year. (Ziggurat being another major one).

Also missed the annual chance to see you!

I KNOW! :-D I said something to [livejournal.com profile] tpau on Friday about having brought CDs to give you, and when she said "Oh, he's not here," I went, "WHAT? Not at all?!? Ohnoes!!!"

Which reminds me that I *do* have CDs to give you, and though I could have asked her to courier them, I failed to do that either. :-} I'm planning to stick them in the mail. Anyone would think we live hundreds of miles apart...

That's no good, we should figure out some sort of coffee type meetup instead.

That would be charming. :-) I will get my preliminary rehearsal schedule tonight, and then will have an idea of what kinds of Copious Free Time I can expect to have over the next few to several weeks...

I briefly considered going to the party, but I couldn't decide if being conceived while both of my parents were Brandeis students counts as being associated with Brandeis.

It was good to see you(more like wave in your general direction). I told your husband that we know what your wedding gift is but we have to get off our butts and get it taken care of.

I at first misinterpreted your first Friday activity, and tried to figure out whether you were praying for light-emitting diodes, or just using them in place of candles, or what.

Well, if there's anyplace where there would be LED davening, it would be Arisia, right?

LED davening! It would CERTAINLY be in place of candles! What an awesome idea. :-) I should have brought the color-changing tealights from our wedding centerpieces.
