I'm going to be in [livejournal.com profile] theatreatfirst's The Winter's Tale! It's a small part, or rather two small parts (due to the structure of the play, there's a fair bit of double-casting of courtiers and rustics) -- but that actually tends to be a Good Thing for me, and in particular I get to partner with [livejournal.com profile] gilana which will be most excellent. Performances April 23 - May 2, 2008. First read-through is tonight, and then I'll have a preliminary rehearsal schedule and all that good stuff.

In other performance news, yesterday was the one-day Mikado concert production at Temple Israel Center in White Plains. As last year, it was at least 3 rabbis, 10 cantors or cantors-in-training, and David and me representing the amateur contingent. :-) There are a few pictures -- not terribly exciting unless you know the people in them, I think, but there they are.

AND if you are a fan of a cappella singing, Jewish and otherwise, come hear Honorable Menschen this Saturday night in CJP's 3rd annual A Cappella Fest at KI! Last year’s concert was filled to capacity -- buy your tickets in advance!

I have of course also seen some shows recently, but don't feel the need to recap them right here. Maybe later. :-)

You too! I'm excited -- and actually really fascinated by the fact that, going in, I know less than half the cast. :-)

Young guns and all-stars this time.
I'm glad that some of the MTG contingent of "Who Dunnit" got cast.
Still trying to process Isaac.

I ♥ The Winter's Tale. One of the more underrated Shakesperean plays IMO. About ten years ago I saw an outstanding staging at the Stratford Festival. The actor playing Paulina was particularly good; a Globe and Mail reviewer said that the rebuke she delivered to Leontes in Act III "could blister paint."

Oh, and break a leg!

I looked at your Mikado pictures, figuring that I teach in White Plains, I had a teacher last semester who has a congregation there, I'd probably know someone through one of those venues- instead, it was another teacher, who I did not expect to do Gilbert and Sullivan. Thanks for sharing- it was a fun game of "where's waldo", as it were.
