chanaleh: (move to nyc)
[personal profile] chanaleh
I've been Freecycling up a storm this week as I work on packing/purging stuff (yeah, I had the better part of a year to do this, but did I? nooooo). Right now, I offer up the following:

Assortment of glasses: 3 wine glasses, 3 champagne flutes, 4 large drinking glasses & 6 med drinking glasses. (The latter two are an uncomfortable size for hand-washing -- too long & narrow -- so best if you have a dishwasher.) Packed into one smallish divided carton; take them all or nothing.

Assortment of stationery, colored paper, and odd-sized envelopes, including most of a ream of onionskin paper CLAIMED!

Cordovan leather briefcase with carrying strap. I got this for my college graduation and have used it maybe 3 times since then on job interviews (it's just not my thing anymore, I'm a designer, I bring a portfolio). I'd love to get $10 for this, but if you are in dire financial straits and can use it in a professional setting, I'd just be happy for it to go to some use. CLAIMED!

Long gown, periwinkle blue, sleeveless (scoop neck), size 14. Pics on request.

Papasan chair with slightly dingy pink cushion (this, too, I got for my college graduation; apparently no one but me finds it comfy to sit in). I also have the matching ottoman with cushion, but its seat platform has long been broken out (might make a good table base).

Squeezy brain balls! Set of 4, saved from MIT (these look like they should be good for juggling, but they're too light; maybe if you weighted them?) CLAIMED!

Unabridged dictionary (I have two, and really only need one!) CLAIMED!

Zippered CaseLogic neoprene laptop case, 12.5" x 10" CLAIMED!

ETA:

China teacups (with saucers), three sets unmatched CLAIMED!

3/8" Rotex label maker, the old embossing-plastic kind CLAIMED!

Giant Microbe "Ulcer" CLAIMED!

Small cardboard shipping boxes (too small for packing in) CLAIMED!

Assortment of planters (hanging and otherwise), pots and cachepots. Probably 8 or 9 in total. I promise to take all the dead plants out of them first (N.B. the spider plant is only MOSTLY dead, if you want it intact). Also one set of cheap small gardening tools (trowel, rake). CLAIMED!

I'm also giving away a bunch of my Judaica books and having a fire sale on my framed artwork. :-} Some other framed posters (not my art) to give away as well.

Pick up from me in Somerville by appointment on Saturday morning/afternoon the 20th, or Monday night the 22nd (probably after 8pm), or really Tue/Wed are fine too. I can probably also use sorting/cleaning help at those times, but ping me first.

I'm not back from worldcon until Tues, but I could really use an interview briefcase, and Arisia would be amused to adopt the squeeze brains ... ;)

Arisia can use more brains.

i’d be happy to coordinate pickup. :)

Good deal, or since I pass your house almost daily, we could talk about delivery. :-)

They're yours!

I would happily take the paper! Rather than coming by Saturday, would "send it with [livejournal.com profile] justom to the Dragon run" work?

Date: Friday, August 19th, 2011 12:01 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chanaleh.livejournal.com
I could probably do that, depending on how much it ends up weighing and how he's getting there :-) It means you don't get to browse, though! Do you want all the oddball stuff I'm ditching, or by "paper" were you thinking the 8.5x11 stuff specifically?

Date: Friday, August 19th, 2011 12:07 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] firstfrost.livejournal.com
Oh, hmm, I'm not sure I actually need more paper than can be easily carried! (Revising my estimates of "assortment" accordingly) The onionskin in particular sounded useful, but I could drop by Monday night. :)

Hee hee. Well, I'll see what progress I make on assembling a manageable assortment by Saturday noon. :-)

I'd be happy to take the rest of the stationer and envelopes that [livejournal.com profile] firstfrost doesn't want. Not sure when I could pick it up; you're welcome to stop by my place on your way to shul if that works for you.

Oooooh. I have just remembered to ogle the paper after coming back this evening. Thank you!
(Also, I cannot seem to get it all back in the *bag*. I am in awe of your leet packing skillz.)

If the laptop case does not have an owner yet, I'm raising my hand. My new-to-me work laptop is about that size (larger than a netbook, smaller than the white macbooks. I'll be at shul tonight and/or around next week.

oh yeah! I still have the Harry Potter puzzle in my car for you as well. :-) You got it!

Great! We're seeing the nephews this weekend so they'll totally love it!

I'd be happy to take the giant microbe ("Chanaleh gave me an ulcer!" :-), cheap gardening tools, and some planters. Possibly some Judaica, depending on what.

Monday works better for me than Shabbat, unsurprisingly, but I do have a houseguest arriving some time that evening, so I'm not completely sure of my timing yet.

Date: Friday, August 19th, 2011 01:12 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chanaleh.livejournal.com
That would be great, and I still have those fabric bits for you! Could be Tues night as well.

From: [identity profile] magid.livejournal.com
Tues is in the process of being figured out still; Monday's probably better (the coming week's evenings are weirdly full compared to my usual....). Depending on when the houseguest arrives, I might just bring her along :-). Do you know when you're likely to be home by?

I'm also giving away a bunch of my Judaica books and having a fire sale on my framed artwork. :-} Some other framed posters (not my art) to give away as well.

Which ones? :-)

Um, come and browse? :-)

I still have some other stuff for you -- in fact I sort of think I haven't found everything that was supposed to go your way, but I was going to bring a small bag to shul tonight if you would accept taking it home.

Aw, I would love to take advantage of your fire sale, but adding "ship framed artwork to Iowa" to your to-do list would be cruel. :/

Well, there's always post-move! :-)

If it's at all helpful, I'm glad to pick up and mail unframed artwork to Iowa.
(I'm not up for the responsibility of protecting frames, but poster tubes are an entirely different situation...)

Now I am really curious what else is in the bag!!!

I'd take advantage of the fire sale if you have that Oseh Shalom one I keep eyeing in a frame.

Date: Sunday, August 21st, 2011 12:52 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chanaleh.livejournal.com
I do! You can buy it right off my wall if you like :-) which is in a black frame, or I have a silver one.

What's your fire sale price? :)

Is good question! I'm thinking $20 framed...

Sounds ok to me. However, tonight is looking tired and frazzled... is Weds a possibility?

...and if tonight is possible, how do I reach you other than LJ? I think I have an email address, but no phone#, address, etc. Otherwise I guess I fail to help you not have to move it to NYC. ;-)

I would be interested in the china tea cups!

Yours! Will someone in your household be in/near Somerville in the coming week?

From: [identity profile] awfief.livejournal.com
I'd like the shipping boxes (I often ship out small knitted stuff like 1-5 baby sweaters)....but Tony and I are leaving around 6 pm to drive to NYC for a wedding tomorrow (we have to be at the wedding at 10:30 am)....coming back Sunday....so I'd have to pick up Monday, unless we can coordinate over the weekend or something.

Date: Friday, August 19th, 2011 03:16 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chanaleh.livejournal.com
Awesome! I think coordinating over the weekend is likely to be slightly mad, but Mon night would be great; Tue-Wed nights also fine actually, as long as I know you actually want them!

Yep, I'll take 'em all. Can you e-mail me your snail mail address?

Will check and advise motza"sh. You can probably have your pick of the two!

ETA: Actually, I'm going to leverage it into an excuse to lure over another (lurking) friend who can come for it, and visit for a bit, Shabbat afternoon. Apologies!

What are the sizes of the plant pots? I might be interested in those as I have a bunch of plants that need to be repotted, hanging and otherwise :)

I think they range from 4" to about 10".

Hmmm. I could certainly come by and possibly grab a few if you're amenable?

sure! email me with what time (esp. if for sat.) and I'll send you the address. chanaleh@lj works.

Um...getting to this a bit late, and only by fluke (rarely get to read lj these days). If you by chance have a peanut grinder or a soy milk maker that you are looking for a home for, let me know? (Yeah, it's kind of a long shot, I know:)

(I know they are not listed, but I also know you are not done cleaning yet:)

I do not have either of those things. I do recall you wanted a microwave but I still think we're taking that with us. Will let you know first if it goes up for grabs! :-)

Date: Friday, August 19th, 2011 06:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] oneagain.livejournal.com
Hee! I kind of doubted you did, but I have been in situations before where I did not ask due to that assumption, and I was mistaken.

I no longer need a microwave, though I have a friend who might. I expect your friends should get precedence, though:)

Okay, I'll put it in the pile for you! I love those things, but I've pretty much converted to the electronic self-printing kind.
