Update on wedding plans

So, when we last left our hero and heroine, they were planning a Lag B'Omer (May 18) wedding, probably in Indiana. (Or, as my mom said, "Oh, you're going to wait that long?")
But the reason for waiting until May was that I wasn't going to be able to wrap things up in NYC before April -- work, theater, shul, etc. Only now
etrace has decided that he is sick of waiting and will arrange whatever he needs to do in order to come stay with me here in NYC for the intervening ~2 months. So he's planning to be here starting in early February (which is the earliest *he* can get things at home into a temporarily wrapped-up state).
Which made me say, hey, February 14 is the Friday of President's Day weekend; what if we went up to Boston and did it right then? "What a fantastic idea," he said.
So that's the new plan. :-)
Then, to officiate for us, I contacted Rabbi Rim Meirowitz, who longtime readers may remember was my sponsoring rabbi for my conversion back in 1996 (in other words, has known me since the original
etrace days), and who, as it happens, also makes somewhat of a specialty of interfaith weddings (he's referred a few couples to me over the years for custom ketubot). And he said he'd be very glad to participate in our celebration, so we will meet with him hopefully in December and make some more detailed plans.
So we want to do a very small morning ceremony (hopefully to be followed by bagel breakfast) on Friday morning the 14th, and then a more wide-open cocktail party in the evening (even though it will be Shabbat at that point -- sorry to those for whom that causes problems in attending!) at a certain graciously-offered Davis Square location. More details to follow on that. (And then the next day we are going to run away to Vermont for two full days of doing Absolutely Nothing.)
Unfortunately, because
etrace is not in fact Jewish, using the
tremontstshul for the ceremony is not an option (I checked). So I am exploring other appropriate spaces. Eitz Chayim (in Cambridgeport) says their space is not available either, alas. I inquired at Havurat Shalom, they need to see if they can get a member liaison lined up to supervise the space, and will get back to me. But I'm also pondering some other, more commercial options. We shall see.
Anyway, for those playing along at home, we are still planning to have the Indiana festivities on May 18, and then depart for our Epic Road Trip Honeymoon. But we will probably decamp from NYC to Indiana in early- to mid-April, possibly during Pesach right after seders.
But that's all months away. Right now I am all packed and ready to leave on a jet plane for Chicago tonight to spend Thanksgiv(ukkaaronsbirthday) at... home.
Meantime, off to work!
