Blast from the past
Friday, August 15th, 2003 02:39 pmI'm having dinner tonight with Erick... my first boyfriend from high school. He finished his doctorate in psychoacoustics at Berkeley this spring -- and now he'll be doing postdoc at BU, so he and his wife Cathy have recently moved to Boston (actually, to Revere Beach).
We met the summer before our sophomore year of high school, in 1986, and dated until the middle of senior year (long-distance, really; we lived an hour apart). And I tracked him down through Google about 5 years ago, so we've corresponded occasionally since then. But we haven't met or spoken in 14-1/2 years. And now he's here.
I'm having a bit of "universes colliding", thinking about it. Nothing to be nervous for, but I am a little freaked out. :-) He's one of the coolest people I ever had the privilege to know. (In fact, I'm going to try to bring them to
roozle/
sunspiral's in a couple weeks so they can get acquainted with more cool people. I think they're likely to fit in well.)
Tonight's dinner was supposed to be with both of them, but she's not feeling well, so most likely he'll come without her. We're meeting up at Diesel around 8:30 (after shul, for me) and proceeding to Diva for dinner.
So until then, I'd best go back to not thinking too hard about it. :-)
Wish me luck, if you see me.
