Hammers, bells, and songs to sing
Monday, November 17th, 2003 12:25 pmWhat I did this past weekend several days:
- Two 1/2-hour performances with Honorable Menschen; to my amazement, managed to be 90% off book.
- Organized 45+ people for a movie outing while trying to pull off the second of those performances. So actually, it was
ablock (and jweiss) who managed the real logistics, for which I am grateful as always. - Watched The Hebrew Hammer, which rocked. Everyone on my Chanukah list is getting Jewish Justice League t-shirts. ;-)
- Did the first hour of this new translation-proofreading freelance gig, which I have no idea how I will have any time to do. But I can use the money, so we'll see.
- Organized 60+ people and one unfortunately-very-cute rabbi for Shabbat services and dinner. Got a wonderful shot of spiritual energy from the davening, though, and ate fabulous dinner consisting largely of fresh vegetables. Walked the rabbi home. Cambridgeport is beautiful at midnight.
- Watched the closing performance of Ruddigore with
tenore. - Personally carried Every Single Piece of Lumber used in the set from a pile outside Walker Memorial down into the set shop. Came to understand how ants feel building anthills.
- Helped finish strike in record time: 4.5 hours (5pm-9:30pm).
- Went to the cast/strike party. Sang along with impromptu unaccompanied-chorus renditions of the second half of Iolanthe and the first half of Pinafore. Talked to and briefly held
mattrolls; was glad of that. Went home to bed. - Brunch with
ablock,
kalessin, and Martha
marfta, who reported that
scholargipsy's gig was excellent. - Laundry: 2 loads.
- Grocery shopping: 1 load.
- Picked up the tallit that the unfortunately-very-cute rabbi (having left town already) forgot at the shul. Delivered it to his brother's house in Cambridgeport, for shipment back to California.
- Menschen rehearsal.
- Mostly laid out the Dec/Jan issue of the shul newsletter.
- Suffered through no fewer than 15 failures of my dialup connection. I don't know whether it's the noisy line or the hardware or software or what, but this sucks.
- Showered in the dark due to a power outage this morning. At least it wasn't until after my alarm went off.

I've been told that, back in the day, most of the women at the temple my family attended (also called Beth Shalom, as it happens) had a crush on the rabbi.
