I don't know quite what this indicates, but... today, after befriending another round of LJers (either newly created, newly discovered, or simply finally added), my Friends tally is now up to 201. Yowza.

Of course, several of those are duplicates or communities... and aside from those, there are at LEAST 3 of you I still don't know in person, so maybe I should hold off on counting any milestones. :-)

hmm..

I'll eventually take a weekend trip up to Boston to meet the Boston group.

Will that help? :-)

I prefer to think of it as quality, rather than quantity in my case. :-)

Or maybe it's just that I'm boring.

Or maybe it's just that I'm so busy being incredibly exciting in real life, that I don't write incredibly exciting stuff in my journal. Or maybe I just haven't tried to get lots of people reading my journal. Or maybe both. Yeah, that's it.

It's not the number of people reading my journal (that's rather less); it's the number of people I've added as friends, or as I phrase it on my own journal page, Everyone I Know On LJ.

It just happens that I know a metric buttload of people who've joined the hivemind. :-) And more all the time.

Oops. I go away from LJ for a four-day weekend, and forget all about it...

I don't have tons of people that I read frequently, because I tend to want to read behind every cut-tag and make insightful comments on each entry. OK, I don't do the latter as often, but still...

The $64,000 question:

How many do you actually read?

At home, I read them all. Really. Whoever posts, I at least skim everything -- although admittedly I don't follow every cut tag.

At the office [shhhh!], I keep a "Regulars" filter bookmarked, which winnows out some people who I know less well or who post a LOT that I don't feel the need to keep up on in quite such detail. That still leaves me a good 145 or so people/communities -- but lots of them never post at all (so I don't lose much by keeping them on the Regulars list, and if they ever *do* post, I won't miss it).

Oh, sure...

Then there are those that you do know, but never write to, never call... ;)
