The Twelve Days of Vacation
Tuesday, January 6th, 2004 06:52 pmOh, the 12 days' vacation I got from MIT,
Were packed with activ-i-ty!
Christmas Eve: ROTK!
Christmas Day: Hosted breakfast at my house, which was great and I should do it much more often; then attended a BBQ at aaronm's, and then
mangosteen's movies-and-Chinese bash chez
ablock. Inaugurated the Smoothie Maker of Mudslides Doom.
Housecleaning. Cooking. Grocery shopping. Frivolous shopping. :-)
Ma'arit Ayin night at Man Ray (no-cover Friday [Fetish] night). The first time I've set in foot in there since freshman year of college... and I've lived three blocks away for the past 7.5 years. It was a blast.
yehoshua: "And is that what you wore to shul?" ;-)
Very pleasant dinner with
skreeky and Dr. Jon.
Very pleasant brunch and stroll around Fresh Pond with
kalessin.
Very pleasant evenings with
tenore.
Very pleasant post-Chanukah latkefest chez
ablock.
Another dinner with
ablock which was not exactly (or at least entirely) unpleasant, but needed to be had.
Three-day trip to visit
jessruth in NYC.
Tried to see Avenue Q but failed. Sang all the songs instead. There's a fine, fine line / Between love... and a waste of time.
Invoked more shopping karma, organizational skillz, and Magnetic Poetry.
Spent New Year's Eve far from Times Square, attending the 21st annual free Concert for Peace at the imposing Cathedral of St. John the Divine.
Brought
jessruth back to Boston for the remainder of the vacation.
Dinner mob with Alex & Bridget (and Siglet!) at India Palace, so now I will be able to distinguish it from India Pavilion.
Dim sum, which I now believe can be done without partaking of any high-trayf (pork and shellfish). And here I've been avoiding dim sum for years.
And back to work.
But God, it was nice to have some leisure time. I should remember to take more vacation. (actually, a big part of it was having the rest of the world basically on hiatus too... fewer people I needed to see, fewer obligations.)
Next up: New Year's resolutions!
