I feel better than I have in ages. More on that later, though. Amazing what a good night['s sleep] will do. I am overflowing with love for the whole world.

Oh yes, and Girl with a Pearl Earring was quite good. Anyone want to lend me the book? Once I've finished Winter's Tale?

And speaking of finishing winter... Tomorrow night and Saturday is Tu B'Shvat. We're having our world-famous 20s&30s Tu B'Shvat Seder at Tremont St. on Saturday night. You should all come. :-) (You can even view a PDF version of the complete seder program online if you want to know what it's like.) The advance RSVP date is technically past, but let me know today and get the friend-of-[livejournal.com profile] chanaleh discount.

The sap is rising...

And finally, a note that Sunday, 16 Shvat, is my Hebrew birthday. Or, more properly, my anniversary. I should bring a cake to rehearsal or something. :-) My Torah portion is Yitro, the following Shabbat, featuring my favorite Haftarah: Seraphim stood above him; six wings, six wings to each one: with two covering his face, and with two covering his feet, and with two, flying. Yay.

Oh, come on. :-P We don't graduate people... Besides, it's all this Kabbalistic stuff and you're not even supposed to start with that until you're 40, right?

Hmm... I just read over the seder. It sounds pretty neat. Pity it's the week before payday, but maybe next year.

When I saw the phrase "20s and 30s Tu B'Shvat Seder", I thought that you meant that everybody dresses up in flapper outfits and stuff like that and you do the whole shul up as a speakeasy.

Then I figured out what it meant.

But I still think my idea would be cool. "We will drink booze made from the fruits of many different trees -- applejack, slivowitz. . . "

Oh good, I'm not the only one who had to do that double-take. :)

I have Girl With A Pearl Earring and you are welcome to it next time I see you. I'm disappointed you've seen the movie though, because I want to see it and I didn't think anybody else did!

i just read your conversion story -- i hadn't seen it before.
thanks for posting it.

Instead I was just wet. And Jewish. Wow.

I just finished reading a library copy of Girl With A Pearl Earring, which was recommended to be by [livejournal.com profile] marfta. Talia's partway through it now, and will be using it for some school project. Next on the reading list is the Jorge Luis Borges collection Labyrinths, recommended by [livejournal.com profile] regyt.
