(C sent me this; it's good enough to share,
Although it scans in anapests, not iambs.)
Herewith an ode on gothy chickiness,
Set to a famous Billy Joel tune...

Uh, what? (A) No, they're not, and (B) the song plainly asserts the opposite.

Not relevant to your post... but I know someone who belongs to your shul, and who is looking for a ketuba calligrapher. Do you do that? In Hebrew, that is. Kinda hard to tell from your site.

You are also at the center of a friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend moment on LJ that I will post about, maybe soon. Just so you know.

Ah, yes, I do and I have. I should probably clarify on the site, thanks.

And, I trust this is our resident soon-to-be-married Brunonian that I know you know? If it were someone else, that would be just too much FOAFness for one day (q.v.)!

This is Melanie we're talking about, then, ayuh. You and her should definitely talk. Sounds like you did exactly what she is looking for.

Cute, but the song deals with only one goth girl type. Herewith, a musical tribute to the other sort, who often gets neglected. This one is to the tune of an actual goth classic, "Love Cats" by The Cure.

She wears a Sandman Death tee
No bigger than size 14
The way she smiles
Her feminine wiles
The way she preens
She squeals and coos and grins all night
"Let's go
and cast all the spells we know!"

She wears an ankh,
Goddess be thanked!
An elfin Wiccan, Druid too,
Pretty in black
She'll take you aback
She's a perky, chirpy
Goth girl (ba da da da da DA da da da da da da da da)

She's so wonderfully, wonderfully, wonderfully, wonderfully, cheery,
You know that I'd do anything for her!
I'd trade all my Bauhaus albums
I'd even feign self-esteem!
Then we'd take flight
And soar through the night
It's the perkiest thing
A night-creature's dream

She wears an ankh,
Goddess be thanked!
An elfin Wiccan, Druid too,
Pretty in black
She'll take you aback
She's a perky, chirpy
Goth girl (ba da da da da DA da da da da da da da da)

Aaaah! The perkigoths!

Michael dear, did you write this? I am more and more impressed all the time. :-)

Guilty as charged. And thanks.

"Love Cats" was actually the only Cure song I knew as a kid (long before I'd heard of goth) and one of my favorite videos from the '80s. Later, when I heard my roommate play Standing on a Beach: The Singles, I realized that the song was hardly typical of the band.
