Length of my scheduled layover in Las Vegas, in hours: 3
Amount of time my connecting flight was then delayed, in hours: 1
Number of minutes before the rescheduled departure time that they announced the flight to Sacramento was being canceled altogether: 20
Number of remaining flights leaving Las Vegas for Sacramento that day: 0
Approximate number of passengers rebooked onto flights for SFO and thence bussed up to SMF: 55
Ground transit time from SFO to SMF, in minutes: 121
Number of books I had with me: 4
Number of books I ended up reading en route: 2
Total delay from original scheduled arrival at SMF, in hours: 4.5
Total travel time from my door to Mom's door, in hours: 18

America West is the cheapest alternative outside of Southwest Airlines.
