I rarely get a chance for naps, and I had two of the best naps ever this weekend. Friday night after brisket dinner (I hate to say it, but there really is nothing like getting a nap while everyone else does dishes ;-) on [livejournal.com profile] ablock's couch. And then yesterday afternoon, with company. I know how beautiful it was outside... but I was exactly where I wanted to be.

'Twas also Talk Like A Pirate Day! I listened to our Fall '02 recording of Pirates of Penzance, but that was about it. Avast! Hark ye, I decree that next year we be plannin' more piratey goodness for t'observance. A screening of PotC? A landlubbin' excursion to the Pirate Museum?

In between, of course, there was the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] roozle-[livejournal.com profile] sunspiral end-of-summer love-in party. Colder than any weather I can remember for it. ([livejournal.com profile] kalessin: "You missed the swimming! It was great!" Me: *runs to put on a sweater*)

Also yesterday evening, I finished reading Smoke and Mirrors, Neil Gaiman's short story collection. It ends with "Snow, Glass, Apples" which I had never read before and which is Oh My God Brilliant. As soon as I had finished it, I turned back to the first page and immediately read it again.

Over Rosh Hashanah I got an idea for a story. Or at least, a framework for a story I want to tell. Or a concept that excites me that I want to flesh out. Or something. -- Yes, in shul. The Rosh Hashanah liturgy is among my favorite texts. Malchuyot. Zichronot. Shofarot.

Wednesday the Revels people are putting on a Fall Equinox RiverSing around the Weeks Footbridge. A couple of us Menschenfolk are going (I already submitted that I'll be late to Io rehearsal. I end up missing these kinds of observances usually, and they gratify my secret pagan streak). If anyone wants to join me, please do.

Memo to self: this afternoon, remember to leave at 5pm for blood drive appointment.

Wow, that RiverSing looks fun. I have to be at rehearsal at 7 that night, though. :(

Mmmm brisket...

It turns out my dad is singing at the RiverSing and I'm going to try to bring the kids to hear it. Do you know where you'll be?

Cool! Um, I don't actually know where we'll be, though (since we're not going as a formal group, only about 3 of us); I'll depart Kendall at 6, and we're going to meet up outside Harvard Hillel at 6:20pm, walk over to the river from there, and find somewhere good to be in the crowd at that point.

Hope to see you!
