I am so NOT a jewelry-oriented type of girl...

But I was just poking around looking at these (stupid in-flight magazine ads, grumble, mutter) and I'm absolutely taken. Particularly with this one.

*sigh* I don't think I've ever in my life coveted something that cost over a thousand dollars... aside from a VW Cabrio convertible (or, y'know, houses and stuff)...

Very pretty, but IMHO enameled rings are just a heartache waiting to happen. The slightest bit of flex, and flakes of glass fall off. Much less practical than, say, Stompy Boots.

Very pretty. But you've never faunched over a cutting-edge bit of computer gear?

Mmmmmmmm... pretty...

[removed and re-posted after I took a better look at more the collection...]

These (and especially the one you singled out) are really lovely. I started out not liking the diamonds, but they might look really good that way in person; they'd also be great as just enamels (and let's assume the problems mentioned with enamels have been solved here...)

I think you should have more than just one, though... a set of the coolest ones to choose from to match color and design to mood. :-)

You mean like this (the center one)? Heh.

Of course this (the center one) is cute too... Sigh, sigh, I'm going to stop looking at these now. Because...

But remember -- I got a $3 one for my birthday that's almost as good, speaking of matching to moods ;-) Which is basically styled on the enameled-band theme anyway, and is like having different (pretty iridescent) rings on all day. So really, I got more variety per ounce this way already. :-)

Ooo. Those are really nice. It's true about the pitfalls of enamel jewelry, though. I had the same problem with el cheapo fake-cloisonne unicorn earrings (in approximately 1989). Maybe really expensive enamel jewelry has solved this problem. :)

The only way to give decent longevity to enamel jewelry is to make it in such a way as to ensure that the enameled part won't flex or sustain direct impacts. Domed circular shapes are best, long and skinny shapes are worst, and a band is effectively a long and skinny shape. It's sad but true, and rings are particularly subject to impacts.
