Dude! The IgNobel Awards are this Thursday night at Harvard. (When I'll be at rehearsal.)

And there are also the IgInformal Lectures at MIT, Saturday afternoon at 1pm. (Right about when I'll be co-sponsoring birthday kiddush in the shul sukkah with [livejournal.com profile] gilana. Oh well.)

totally un-related to you actual post

i have been looking for a while for a shul to join. i am wondering if you could recomend me something... i am conservative trad, though i can deal with egal if i have to. i want a shul where i can take classes to learn more about the halaha and other stuff, iam severely lacking in the knowledge department... and i'd rather it was not hugely expencive, though iam sure i coudl get my folks to shell out for membership.
i live in waltham, buti am willing to drive on holidays since there is nothign too exciting in the actual walking distance form me...

It's tangentially related :-)

At Tremont St. we have a Trad minyan, except that at the moment they're experimenting with having a mechitza (and both our Trad *and* Egal minyans have always used the Birnbaum siddur, which is considered an Orthodox usage), so I'm not sure what actually distinguishes it from an Orthodox minyan at this point.

However, we don't offer a whole lot in the way of classes most of the time. I think KI does, but they don't seem to publish an actual list.

You should still come check us out, though :-)

And the presidential debate. Which I'll be TiVoing, on account of there's also a big giant rehearsal for the Act I finale.

Hm...

Go away, Cheney,
I should say, Cheney,
You display, Cheney,
Shocking taste...

(well, "Bush" doesn't scan.)

How about "Dubya?"

From: [identity profile] chanaleh.livejournal.com
The music (in the Act I finale of Iolanthe) goes pretty fast at that point. Even counting "Dubya" as elided to two syllables, it's awkward to get out at that speed, especially when followed directly by another vowel. :-)

ARGH! agg! Skip it!

*pout*

I don't know who I'm going to go with. Both the boys are sufficently un-scientific that they aren't interested in going, everyone else is doing jew-stuff or is busy. And [livejournal.com profile] jencallisto's in san fran. *sigh*

PLEASE STOP, I'M BORED!

I went last year and it was pretty funny. I'd definitely be up for tagging along with a posse to this year's.

Simple. [livejournal.com profile] ablock should organize the posse, thereby also earning brownie points with [livejournal.com profile] bluepapercup ;-)

Ahh, that saves me having to embarass myself by asking bluepapercup to accompany me ;)

Please imagine I know how to do the magic handwaving to add the icon to her name.

No, see, what we're really expected to imagine is that Mr. Hotshot Coder *cares* enough to implement the magic handwaving ;-)

Now listen you, if I'd known how wave my hands, I would have! Otherwise, I'm sat here looking like a dork. See? You see me looking like a dork?

[Un]fortunately for me, I have not invested any time in learning how to make LJ go, so I guess I'll just go back to my incredibly complex C++ instead. Or something.

So there :-p

You should probably poll [livejournal.com profile] ablock. He does indeed seem to be organising a posse though.

[livejournal.com profile] gnomi and I were really looking forward to going to the Igs again this year; last year, when I spoke to Marc, he mentioned that they try to stay away from the Jewish holidays.

I guess he forgot about Sukkot. We can't go due to the yom tov. Hope others enjoy in our stead.
