Vain attempt to catch up
Friday, December 20th, 2002 04:45 pmI haven't posted in some time because I keep thinking I'll manage to get at the lengthy LJ entries I started writing over Thanksgiving, which are now trapped on my broken laptop. (I broke the laptop falling down the stairs at shul; this was on a Sunday morning -- long story -- and I had it in my backpack, so it hit the floor when I took a header. I was miraculously unharmed except for a couple of bruises, but cracked the screen, alas.) I need to hook up the machine to my desktop monitor at home so I can retrieve at least those bits of text to be going on with. And then I have to figure out whether to try to repair or replace it... but that's another story.
Right now I'm at work, planning to leave here in a few minutes so I can go home, fold what's left of the laundry I did last Sunday, go to shul, and then go to a slumber party tonight at
zogathon's house... yay!
I made the mistake of going to the mall on my lunch hour, having realized how many more family gifts I still need to buy and ship. I was away from my desk for an hour and a half, when we're supposed to keep it to an hour. Fortunately, at least, I managed to cross several names off my list (even though I ended up spending more than I meant to in some cases).
Last night Matthew and I finally wound up the discussion of whether we thought I should come home to NJ with him for Christmas. Upshot: it'd probably be a fine visit if I came, but overall it seems simpler and more comfortable for right now if I just stay up here instead. Which means I can hang out with the gang at
mangosteen's on Xmas Day, and spend some time caring for things on the home front. And also that
jessruth can come up as early as Friday to hang out for the weekend before New Year's. Woo!
