Blew off Yet Another Meeting at shul last night in favor of staying home.
Baked an apple clafoutis (a sort of batter-pudding custard pancake thing, definitely tasty although it could have used more vanilla and maybe some spices. I still have 6 more apples from our apple-picking so I can try one more round).
Left a phone message for [livejournal.com profile] jessruth. Washed all the dishes. Vacuumed. Took out the trash and the recycling. Watched ER.
Had company for the crossword puzzle. :-)

Life is better now.
Seriously, it is. I didn't get that backrub, exactly; instead I got the specific solace I actually needed, on more than one front, and that makes all the difference.

Tons going on this weekend (tonight's Shabbat dinner has very nearly reached capacity at 80 people, good Lord; parties: [livejournal.com profile] ablock's and [livejournal.com profile] coraline's; two rehearsals)...

... and next weekend (being Halloween of course).
Dresden Dolls at Avalon on Saturday, 5:30pm (doors at 5) leaving plenty of party-hopping time afterwards. I'm probably going to buy some box-office tickets Monday, so if you expect (or would like) me very sweetly to get you one, e-mail me. >:-)
And on Sunday, 10/31 itself, I have conspired with [livejournal.com profile] points to drum up an outing to the Davis Mega Maze. Hours are 10-5, exact plans TBD; more info here. Comment on either entry to be counted in!

With that -- back to my report and my 2pm meeting.

It was from the Boston Sunday Globe Magazine a while back. I looked online but didn't see anything quite the same as what I used. I'll try to post it over the weekend.

But among other things, it does involve 4 eggs and a cup of heavy cream :-)

Avalon on Saturday, 5:30pm

I point this out as I do to various people who don't follow sports as I am known to --- please be careful on Lansdowne Street for the next 2 weekends. That night is World Series Game 6 hosted in Boston, and you'll be about 20 feet from Fenway Park. Don't have a car anywhere nearby, and be aware of the mood of fans around you. The game begins at 7:30 so you will be well away before anything Happens that day, but you will be mixing with very emotional people heading in.

With any luck the Sox will win it in five and there won't be a Game 6.

No, I don't think it'll happen, either, but after what they just did to the Yankees anything is possible.

That would certainly make my weekend easier...;-)

Then again, Yehoshua was nice enough to post some comforting words...and the article about the Emerson student on my LJ, when I posted my rant against the planners of the World Series for attempting to sabatoge my weekend visit to Boston next weekend.

Great.

A chance to see the Dresden Dolls in concert and the Sox Fans muck it up for me.

NOT a good idea to drive my Del Sol into town that night.

Wow, you're weekends seem very full for the next two weeks....:-)

Um, will I get to see you at all while I'm visiting next weekend? Or, will I only get to see you in shul?

Just wondering. Have a great weekend and a shabbat shalom! :-)

I *hope* I'll see you! Shul for sure... I don't know what your shabbat dinner plans are, but that might be a thought?

For shabbat dinner, Vekson & I will be eating at Tapuz & Laurens10's place (which is also where we'll be staying). If you'd like to join us, just let Tapuz know so that she has a good estimate on the number of guests she's going to have over.

Otherwise, if you already have dinner plans, I'm sure no one would mind if you felt like stopping by after dinner to chat. :-)

See you this coming up weekend! :-)

Left a phone message for jessruth.

The message got cut off after the first few words! Silly cheapo machine. But I had a feeling it was you.

In any event, I was at Carolyn's last night. Maybe we can catch up at some point this weekend? Long overdue, I say!
