chanaleh: (scream)
First off, congrats to the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] jessruth, newly-minted Master of Social Work! Note that I am bravely resisting the urge to use BLINK TAGS to show you all how proud I am of her. But imagine they're there.

So it's Tuesday, I've been at the New Job more than a week now, and -- ki tov, ki tov. :-) The first two days were a little slow, leaving me wondering what in the world I was doing there, despite how pleased and excited everyone seemed to have me on board. But then things I can Actually Do start to trickle in, and suddenly I see where I fit in. And it does seem a remarkably good fit. And it turns out that wearing skirts every day is not, actually, problematic.

Meanwhile, Tiger Boy has been in the Grand Canyon on a father-and-son rafting trip all this week -- completely out of phone range, never mind email (in fact he left the phone back with the luggage in the hotel storage). More than anything else, it's weird to get ready for bed by myself. *sigh* But I have, needless to say, been keeping insanely busy in his absence. Such as going to NYC for Shabbat instead of assembling wedding invitations. )

I WILL be working on invitations tonight, and possibly some of tomorrow night, if any crafty people feel like coming over to help me punch holes and tie ribbons. :-)

Thursday night is the [livejournal.com profile] tremontstshul Lag B'Omer BBQ. Unfortunately, it is simultaneous with the penultimate rehearsal for SomerVaudeVille. Fortunately, the effect of that has been to (finally!) mobilize the Great Reduce-Dependence-On-Erica Campaign, spearheaded by [livejournal.com profile] ablock and [livejournal.com profile] brass_rat, both of whom rock.

And Tiger Boy will be flying in this coming Friday morning, on the redeye... just in time to hear Neil Gaiman on Friday night! We bought 8 tickets from MIT the day they came out (thanks to a word from [livejournal.com profile] nacht_musik); everyone said "Oh, it's Kresge, no danger of it selling out" but, ha ha, [livejournal.com profile] millionyear and [livejournal.com profile] pandemonium_bks have done a bang-up job of peddling the tickets and, lo and behold, there may not be any left on site the night of the event! We have 1 of our 8 left, though; anyone want to join us? Preference will be given to those who are NOT being tapped to help cover services at [livejournal.com profile] tremontstshul at the same hour. :-}

And now, to get dressed and eat breakfast, 'cause -- aah! must leave the house in 25 minutes!!

Gah! No time!

chanaleh: Snoopy in a Santa hat (xmas)
(ergo, what better use of 10 minutes than to post to LJ?? It seems like the farther behind one gets in posting, the less it feels OK to just throw random asides up by way of entries... maybe I'll try to do more of that instead of waiting to compose paragraphs-long updates. But, for now, here I am.)

These days I am busy with a dozen or so major projects, some paid, some volunteer. (The wintertime urge to sleep 10 hours a night is Not Helping; how can I get more hours in my day except by cutting them from the night??) For what feels like weeks, I've been skimming LJ but only rarely able to take time to make comments... or, for that matter, to click on cut-tags. Please know that I have thought of you and responded with laughter, hugs, tears, indignation, or moral support, as appropriate.

Last Thursday's Major Snowstorm meant it took me 3 hours to drive back from Concord to Cambridge -- whereupon we, fools that we are, went to tour the Hotel Marlowe for wedding purposes. (It was gorgeous, but that's a story for another time.) This Sunday's Major Snow Ice Freezing Rain Storm was much better in that I did not have to leave the house At All (even Menschen rehearsal was cancelled), which meant I could stay inside cozily working and cooking (an excellent fish chowder) while Tiger Boy voluntarily went outside to dig out my car like the best husband-to-be ever. :-D

Chanukah, which was nice enough, slipped by all too quickly, and now there's nothing left but the plunge toward 12/25. (Have to finish shopping and shipping for family presents, eek! [livejournal.com profile] jessruth and [livejournal.com profile] mbarr will each be coming up from NYC, yay! Have to typeset a 500-page book before then, eek! Going to Virginia to the TigerParents Dec 27-31, yay! Returning for First Night, yay!)

And now, back to everything else I was doing. :-}
