And now, if not Diesel, at least dinner.

Edit, 10pm: Um, yeah. Have been resting quietly at home for 2+ hours, and the local anesthetic is definitely wearing off. This may explain my general underwhelmedness with the evening. (Yes, I have taken ibuprofen. No, the aching has not yet subsided. Yes, I am tossing around looking for the position in which gravity is least annoying.)

Also, I forgot to go look for a copy of Paladin of Souls today, which I meant to do so that I would have it tonight. Meh.

On the other hand, every single one of you should go read this book. On which note, I'm seriously going to bed now.

**And now I am just waiting for one of you to pipe up and say that you went to college with Lore Sjöberg.

9 1/2 hours of sleep every night? Get real.

For my part, 7 to 8 hours is just right for me. Less than 7, especially after 2 or more consecutive nights, and I get sluggish and, in the fall/winter, often catch cold. More than 9 and I'm too wired and anxious the next day, and have trouble falling asleep the next night.

I'm of the opinion that every healthy adult needs to find their own amount of sleep that gives them optimal health and productivity, never mind the one-size-fits-all experts.

Ah, but you haven't read the detailed case this particular book makes regarding metabolism and hormone cycles (the pandemic disorder of which is the cause of the so-called "Metabolic Syndrome" that is so drastically on the rise).

And what they say is not really that all adults need 9.5 hours, but rather that sleep cycles "in nature" range seasonally from 8 to 14 hours, which complements the seasonal availability of different kinds of nutrition -- and that getting roughly 9.5 hours helps your body process the metabolic load of carbohydrates available in our society, in a way that it cannot otherwise.

Remember, the first sight our guests had of the newly-married Mr. [livejournal.com profile] mangosteen and Ms. [livejournal.com profile] bookteacher was the two of us walking into the reception hall in matching flame-colored Chucks (to the Rebel Fanfare from Ep 4, natch).

Thanks for the A, though. [grin]

No! I heard about it, though, and plan to.

For the uninitiated: the userpic for this entry is from Sluggy Freelance (along with the one for this comment).

You obviously believe in grade inflation. Here at UW, A is the highest grade.

Then again, in the Potterverse, "A" stands for "Acceptable" and is analogous, I suppose, to our C, C-.

Love the icon. ;-)

I assure you, the extra credit toward an A++ was well and duly earned.
And that's all I have to say about that.
