Stuff going on, Sept-Oct 2008 edition

September:

THU 09/11, 6:30-8:30pm: tremontstshul Fall Kickoff BBQ

FRI 09/12, 8pm (zoom over after shul): Closing weekend of MTG's Into the Woods (starring jmspencer).

SAT 09/13, 8pm: Jesus Christ Superstar, starring cycon, at St. Paul's Parish Hall (26 Washington St.) in Malden. Sept 12, 13, 14 at 8pm; tickets $15. I pretty much have to go the Saturday night, due to standing Friday and Sunday conflicts. Anyone interested? (Mr. chanaleh, even if he were interested, will be doing the Retrocogitator Puzzle Challenge.)

SUN 09/14, 10:30am-12n: tremontstshul Pre-High-Holiday Open House.

WED 09/17, 6:30-8:00 pm: Celebrate The Macallan: free Scotch tasting! Back Bay Events Center (180 Berkeley St., Boston). gilana and ablock are definitely going; I'm hoping to join them (caveat: if my practical obligations do not overwhelm).

SAT 09/20: Six Flags with ablock (with 9/27 and 11/1 as backup dates). ETA: I have been alerted [waves to tahamill!] that this date is reserved for Out in the Park. As tickets are being sold publicly, however, we're TOTALLY still going. Though maybe not in drag costume particularly. :-) (Note further: apparently this is actually controversial, hmm. I think we're buying the online tickets and going regardless -- it could be really fascinating, but at minimum it should be unusually un-crowded.)

ETA: SUN 09/21: The Salem Pirate Faire with gilana, smacaski, and shumashi. In costume. Clearly, any gossiping to be done will have to take place in pirate-speak. Arrrr!

SAT 09/27, 8pm: Recital by heliopsis and friends, First Congregational Church of Somerville (89 College Ave., Davis Sq).

SUN 09/28, 2pm: Romeo and Juliet, starring the inimitable justom, with Hovey Players in Waltham, 9/19-10/4. The only Sunday matinee is 9/28, so although a bunch of Firsties appear to be going the first weekend, I shall hang back and go with gilana and friends. It's an intimate 52-seat house, so we need to order tickets pronto. Who's with us?

MON 9/29: Erev Rosh Hashanah at tremontstshul (where I get to spend the entire High Holidays with my husband, yay! because I gave up the Swampscott choir gig this year)

TUE 9/30: 2nd-night R"H dinner chez ablock

Other things to be worked in as possible:
• Roughly a hundred wedding thank-you notes X-)
• Clean and organize the post-wedding shambles house
• Laundry, dry-cleaning
• Finish one b'nei mitzvah invitation commission, start on another
• Two website commissions (one small update, one meeting to plan a more serious overhaul)
• Design graphics (and create pre-order page) for Honorable Menschen's debut CD By the River, coming out this December!
• Post wedding pictures and stuff when we get them back (also my ketubah, for those who are interested)
• Contras at MIT (or elsewhere, but it's hard enough to manage to get there!)
• King Richard's Faire (now through 10/19)
• Studying up my French and Italian
• ... And, oh yeah, I'm working full time and stuff, aren't I?

October:


SAT 10/4, 8pm-??: Joint birthday party chez ablock

SUN 10/5, 4pm: Cirque du Soleil, Kooza

MON 10/6: chanaleh's actual birthday (i.e., probable dinner outing; I'm currently thinking the newly expanded Cantina La Mexicana, followed by cake at home)

WED 10/8: Kol Nidre
THU 10/9: Yom Kippur; post-YK break-fast hosted by kalessin and his fair consort :-)

FRI 10/10: Fly to Paris!

Things we will miss while in Europe:
gilana's piratical birthday party (avast!)
All of Sukkot *snif* and especially Simchat Torah at tremontstshul
Great Big Sea, Orpheum Theatre: Fri 10/24, 8:00 PM

SAT 10/25: Fly home from Venice

I'm fairly certain there are things already getting scheduled into my last week of October, but I'll be buggered if I have written any of them down so far. :-}
