Well, first, some shameless promotion of others: two cool things I'm going to. This Thursday night, there's a talk at Temple Bnai Brith (on Winter Hill in Somerville) entitled "Jews in the Final Frontier": "Join us and together we can rule the galaxy as we delve into the strange new worlds of fantasy and science fiction texts and films to explore their Jewish roots and continued influences in the present day. [...] Guest lecturer Joshua Breindel, a fifth year rabbinical student at Hebrew College, holds an MA in Jewish folklore" and is, oh yeah, a beloved ex-boyfriend of mine from college. [livejournal.com profile] ablock and I and [livejournal.com profile] xiphias are all signed up to go. You should come too. And Saturday afternoon I intend to go see the final performance of [livejournal.com profile] mitgsp's undoubtedly-awesome Pirates of Penzance. 2pm in La Sala, followed by set strike. Who's with me?

Now the self-promotion:

This Saturday night, December 13th, my first official vocal recording will be released: Honorable Menschen's debut album, By the River. I sing solos on 2 of the 12 tracks. Plus I designed the cover and all the associated graphics. Thus, if you are a fan of me, you should own this album. ;-) Also, there's a concert. The concert is free. FREE! With FREE REFRESHMENTS! Come on down to [livejournal.com profile] tremontstshul [directions here] between 8pm and 10pm! And if you pre-order a CD and come to the concert to pick it up, you can save a couple bucks over buying it in cash that evening. -- Or if you simply can't make the concert, but expect to be in Boston anytime in the next 6 weeks, you can still pre-order it "for pickup" and I'll hand-deliver it to you, saving you the shipping, because I love you. (Or else you can feel free to wait and buy it on iTunes later. Yes, really. I'll post the link to that when it's up.)

This Sunday, December 14th, there is a Chanukah Art & Craft Fair where I will be selling MuffinButtons as well as my Judaic graphic artwork (and, yes, Honorable Menschen CDs, and I might have Falling August CDs to give away if you ask in advance). And [livejournal.com profile] mizarchivist and [livejournal.com profile] anotherjen and [livejournal.com profile] chaiya [in absentia] and [livejournal.com profile] red_queen and many other cool people will all be displaying and selling their cool stuff. Admission is free. FREE! With FREE REFRESHMENTS! Come on down to [livejournal.com profile] tremontstshul [directions here] between 10:30am and 1:30pm!

Lastly, for you northwest suburbanites, the Menschen are also performing next Friday night 12/19 at Temple Emanuel in Andover. 6:30pm! We're probably performing in Chelsea the morning of Sunday 12/21, as well -- ping me if you want details on that.

Why Why WHY are so many cool things happening this Saturday? Tell me! I WANT to know.

I don't think I can make the concert Saturday as I'm already triple-booked, but could you tell me where it is anyway, and what time, just *in case* the timing fits?

Thank you much. And GO YOU!!!!

Edited above to clarify. :-) It is at Temple Beth Shalom of Cambridge (between Central and Inman Squares). The concert will run approx. 8-9pm and then refreshments/reception 9-10pm.

And, to quote [livejournal.com profile] brass_rat, "December scheduling is a minefield." It just is!

I managed to write it down wrong in my calendar, on the Sunday night. Which totally would have worked. Motza'i Shabbat, not so clear...

Huh - I wonder how many of my costumes will be reused for Pirates? I'm very curious!

Not any, I don't think, unless you made some of the pirate shirts we have in our costume stock.

The costume designers made Victorian bathing costumes from scratch for all the girls except Ruth. They are absurdly adorable--come see!

Actually, I (and my crew) made basically *all* of the pirate shirts you have in stock. :) Along with the police uniforms, the nightgowns and caps, and a lot of blouses and skirts for the daughters that it doesn't sound like you're using this time around.

Sounds very cute! Hopefully there will be photos, since now I have a 5-yr old and a 3-yr old, and I'm not likely to make it to one of the shows this time around. :(

Pirates Strike

From: [identity profile] dhs.livejournal.com
[livejournal.com profile] persis and I will be seeing Pirates Friday evening. I was thinking that driving in just for the strike didn't make sense, but as it turns out, I'll be heading in to Camberville Saturday. Helping out with strike might be fun. (Yes, I'm weird that way.) But I have to be at the other end of town at 18:00. What time do you think that strike will start and would someone who has to leave around 17:30 be of use?

Let's see...show starts at 2, runs just over 2 hours with an intermission...if we get started on time, you might be able to help out for an hour or so before you had to leave. You'd be very welcome, anyways, however long you can stay!

So if I pre-order for hand-delivery :-) how will you know? And can you bring it to Arisia? ("Yes, I can wait 'til then.")

Date: Wednesday, December 10th, 2008 06:16 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chanaleh.livejournal.com
Because I'm also the one who will get and process the orders. Duh. ;-) That is: I'll recognize your name, and if you aren't at the concert for pickup, I'll take charge of delivering any remaining pre-orders from my friends. Though you can also put a note in the order saying "can't make the concert but Erica offered to deliver this to me" if it makes you feel better.

So feel free! And yes, I can bring it to Arisia -- or for that matter drop it off in Brookline in the meantime, since I drive to and from Maimo every day. Let me know.

Done.

Brookline, however, not so useful, since we live in Newton. Now, if you worked at JCDS, that would be a different matter. :-)

Ah, my mistake. :-) Yes, I knew you guys were JCDS. (Which has the best logo ever. I admire it every time I see it.)

Congrats on the recording. I shall have to check it out when I have money.

I've seen this Pirates twice now. Very enjoyable. :)

Great! Record more. :)
