Reprieve!

Since Manhattan is closing bridges to commercial traffic tomorrow (!), the movers have officially rescheduled us for a week from tomorrow, Sunday 9/4.

This actually works out well in a variety of ways, not least of which is that I can continue to be in this apartment for the coming week instead of finding crash space. (Talked to the incoming tenant, the landlords' granddaughter, who was super gracious and flexible and said "as long as there's room cleared for me to move the stuff in that I need to", which was exactly our plan. The packed boxes are all piled to the rafters in the living room.) Baruch haShem.

This being said:

• We're continuing to pack this afternoon (awhyzip and brass_rat are heading over shortly to help out for a bit) and will take ourselves out on a nice dinner date tonight if the weather isn't too hostile yet.
• We get tomorrow to putter around doing more packing/purging of office stuff (you know, like I've been supposed to be doing for months).
• We will hopefully have clear weather to still make a car run down to NYC on Monday with fragile/needful things.
• Then I can still use a few sociable hands here Tue/Wed/Thu nights to do things like pack the final dishes. :-)

I was thinking about your move on Shabbat... Hopefully all will go smoothly when they reschedule.

And, BTW, you're not the first to think of "good night Irene". Joy was singing it yesterday, and it seems that in Shul on Friday night they did "Adon Olam" to that melody. :-)

I wish more than my thoughts could be with you. Tech Weekend is next weekend and I'm in 'finish everything mode' for the show. But when you sit there among the boxes and you feel overwhelmed and in need of a hug, know I've sent you one. It won't be quite the same, but it will most certainly be there.
