Rehearsals cancelled: 1, Family Opera. -- News flash, though: last week I found out which performances I'll sing my solo role in, #2 (which I believe indicates 7pm on Saturday April 1) and #7 (1pm on Sunday April 9). Mark your calendars!

Rehearsals modified: 1, Honorable Menschen moved (tentatively) to across the street from my house, instead of across the river at [livejournal.com profile] mangosteen's. Sorry, hon, but a total win for me. :-)

Other events modified: 1, our Tu B'Shvat Seder tonight. Just like last year (You know you're in Diaspora when...), we will have the doors open for the [local | brave | stupid] to come eat fruit and drink wine, but encourage the majority of people to stay home.

Sick Tigers: 1. :-( He woke up with the flu, or all the symptoms thereof. Poor baby. No thesis progress today. I am trying to push fluids on him.

Cups of tea consumed: 3.
Aging back issues of Sunday Boston Globe Magazine read: 4.
Cross-country skiers seen passing by front window: 1.

Maybe I'll take a shower or something.

I blame [livejournal.com profile] missmhart

... for talking on Saturday night about her chronic weakness for bass players. ;-) Sunday morning I had a dream about one of my exes -- the bassist, naturally, back in Indiana, the only person to ever make me think for more than 30 seconds about moving back there. the details of the dream are not so important, nor is my nattering on about affairs long gone by )

(Oh yeah, so, the book that's eaten my life for the last six weeks was duly shipped off to press today! w00t! [livejournal.com profile] queue and I left early [read: a whole ten minutes to 5pm] for drinks to celebrate. Tomorrow... on to the Cryptoclub! Oh, also my third book cover is coming out next month. :-)

(On the other hand, I have apparently lost my hat. The Best Hat in the World. I had it walking from the office, and I thought I had it waiting for the train, but I think it was gone by the time I got to Diesel, and I didn't notice for sure until leaving Redbones. Crap. My life is already colder for the lack of it. Wonder if the commuter rail has a lost & found?)

... a.k.a. your chance to catch [livejournal.com profile] chanaleh, [livejournal.com profile] ladypsyche, the illustrious Dr. [livejournal.com profile] mangosteen, and friends in all their a cappella glory! (You don't have to be Jewish to attend, or to enjoy the concert. In fact, as a special interfaith treat, we may do the fabled "Maoz Tzur"/"Deck the Halls" counterpoint demonstration. Not to be missed!)

Honorable Menschen In Concert
Sunday, December 18th, 2005
2:00-3:00pm
Harvard Hillel (52 Mount Auburn Street, Cambridge)
Cost: $5 (suggested donation)

Chanukah is late this year. Or is it just that Honorable Menschen, Boston's premier Jewish/Israeli/World a cappella group, is a whole week early? We love Chanukah so much that we just can't wait to start celebrating through song.

So, before you de-wax last year's menorah and dust off those dreidels, please join us for our annual Chanukah concert on Sunday, December 18th at 2:00pm, at Harvard Hillel. We will be debuting several songs, including "Eretz Tzvi" and "Erev Shel Shoshanim". Look out for a couple of traditional Chanukah songs and some of our old favorites, like "By the Rivers of Babylon" and "Mitachat".

This coming spring, we will start recording our first CD, so we appreciate all your support. Please bring along family and friends, or anyone else who wants to get into the Chanukah spirit! Don't forget to check out our newly updated website, http://www.honorablemenschen.org -- we've even got a demo medley for you to enjoy. Feel free to contact us at info@honorablemenschen.org for more information.

Looking forward to singing for you, and Happy (early) Chanukah!
chanaleh: Muffin the Vampire Baker: "It's him, Muffin! You have to protect him at all costs!" "I'M ON IT!" (i'm on it!)
Don't forget our joint birthday fiesta tonight! 8pm-2am chez [livejournal.com profile] ablock. Cake around 11:15pm. Be there or miss out on me and [livejournal.com profile] gilana in our party finest.

Oh yes, and it's also [livejournal.com profile] mangosteen's 33-1/3. ;-)

Okay, off to Costco.

http://www.zipcar.com/about/jobs doesn't list these yet, but Zipcar needs IT help! )

Tonight: I dunno, actually. Maybe I'll make a pilgrimage to Trader Joe's, since I so rarely get the chance (and shopping for fun groceries is at least practical!).
Tomorrow: blood drive appointment; dinner with [livejournal.com profile] mangosteen.
Friday: goin' to New Hampshire (speaking of Zipcar). :-D
Saturday: canoeing the Saco River!

  1. Happy birthday, Justin! *kiss*
  2. While I'm at it, I shall be proactive: Happy birthday tomorrow, [livejournal.com profile] mangosteen -- and [livejournal.com profile] nacht_musik! And Sunday to [livejournal.com profile] zed42! *hugs all around*
  3. Sunday is also Father's Day. Write, call, or hug your father, if you can.
  4. The next Contras at MIT is next Tuesday night, 6/21. Lobby 13, 8-10:30pm. Who's in?
  5. Free Friday Flicks at the Hatch Shell all this summer. Conveniently scheduled at just about enough time to walk over after shul. Not this week or next, for me, but maybe sometime in July.
  6. Opening in July: Urban Oasis, a little slice of East Heaven right here in Inman Square. (We hope!)
  7. Lunch. I should get some lunch. (Came in early today so I could get my stitches taken out before work, which I did, hooray.)
