I need (in my workplace capacity) an ASP programmer to help me think through and build a couple of webform/transaction pages. Gentle readers, can you refer me to someone with clue in this area? We'd ideally want them to be NYC-local so they could come in to discuss the project in person, but if it's a friend-of-a-friend, I could deal with them remotely.

Craigslist ad with details: http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/sof/3164003708.html

ASP.NET developer (short-term to possible long-term) (Upper East Side)

UES private school seeks ASP.NET developer (C# preferred but VB also OK) for custom web application and possible database integration.

Part-time, contract basis. We have a specific short-term project need (probably 10-15 hours over the next 6-8 weeks) but will have more over the coming year, so are looking for someone with whom we can build a freelance relationship. We will want to meet with you in person to review the project scope and specs before moving forward, but most of the work may be done remotely.

Please email resume, cover letter indicating position of interest, links to 2-3 sample projects if available, and desired hourly rate.

(I wrote the ad, so if it sounds glaringly dumb and like I have no idea what I'm actually talking about, so be it. Just help me. ;-)

Work: We are looking for a new Marketing Associate. Ideally this is someone with a year or two of publishing (or bookstore) experience under their belt. Talk to me if you want more info.

Play: or more specifically, Family Opera: Of my 2 performances as principal, I am told the Sunday afternoon one (4/9 at 2pm) is already having huge ticket sales and likely to sell out in advance (!). So if you're dead set on going to that performance, you should order tickets now; or else you should come this Saturday evening (4/1 at 7pm). It's a short show and will be over by 8:30pm even with intermission, so you can still do other things afterwards. Like, say, go out with me to see V for Vendetta. ;-)

It really is a cute show, and those of you with kids should especially consider bringing them. Here's the PR text: "Antiphony is a sparkling tale of two rival ant colonies, a pair of musical grasshoppers, a scheming fly, and a chorus of flirtatious ladybugs. It features an all-insect cast, lovely melodies, humor on many levels, and timely life-affirming lessons of peace and tolerance. Commissioned by the W11 Opera Company for Young People in 1994, this remarkable opera has never been performed outside of London and Cambridge. Don't miss this rare opportunity." More extensive spoilers (and photos from the 2002 production) here.

MBTA: Yikes, I almost forgot: Anyone want a Zone 3 commuter rail pass for April, cheap? Tiger Boy has been getting them for me through MIT, heavily discounted; but by the time I got the car lined up, it was too late to cancel for April. I'll pass it along for $75 o.b.o. (retail value $128). Sold!

Seders: Double yikes, Pesach is coming! [livejournal.com profile] jon_libby and [livejournal.com profile] eudociainboston are looking for a first-night place; anyone have room for them? ([livejournal.com profile] toyb, this question includes you :-)

My friend D just e-mailed me, "The MathWorks Documentation group is expanding. We're currently looking for two editors and several writers. They would need to have decent technical background and, in some cases, specialized experience. If you know of anyone, could you pass them along?"

The office is in Natick, MA. I have no more information than the above, but can put you through to my friend as needed, so let me know.

I know this guy locally who does headhunting type stuff, mostly for Boston-area tech (though not entirely). He's been mostly mailing-list-driven, but he finally set up a webpage in the form of a blog (http://www.e-placers.blogspot.com/), which I have syndicated as [livejournal.com profile] e_placers. Go ye forth, job hunters.

Reminder (by way of [livejournal.com profile] cthulhia): Tomorrow's free Copley Square concert is Aimee Mann. Tracy Bonham opens at 5:30pm. -- Granted, I'm still not 100% sure whether I am going, but it seems likely.

Further updates: gonna have to wait a little longer. :-)

http://www.zipcar.com/about/jobs doesn't list these yet, but Zipcar needs IT help! )

Tonight: I dunno, actually. Maybe I'll make a pilgrimage to Trader Joe's, since I so rarely get the chance (and shopping for fun groceries is at least practical!).
Tomorrow: blood drive appointment; dinner with [livejournal.com profile] mangosteen.
Friday: goin' to New Hampshire (speaking of Zipcar). :-D
Saturday: canoeing the Saco River!
